i still dont think Sundin is overrated
starseed_10 wrote:how has mcCabe's defense been? he's putting up points like a madman, but i havent had time to watch a full game yet..
McCabe has been good
but it seems him and Kaberle pretty much get run into the ground every game with the amount of minutes they play
their D could definatly go without an Aki Berg
got to love the "Bergler"..... always trying to rob the Leafs of a chance to win

so lando and i discussed this some what
the habs just traded jose theodore to the av's for david aebischer.. as a habs fan.. im stoked... and sad to see jose leave but stoked none the less.. given the dudes hurt.. and cost us close to 5 mil vs the cap
so this trade frees up nearly 3 mil in cap room AND gets us a great goalie to take over as our #1? or is he gonna back up huet who's been on fire? who knows.. we shall see about that but either way.. we're set
but
what is lacroix thinking? (other than lando's thought that roy's coming out of retirement) is a luongo trade in the works for the avs?!

Jose is supposed to be ready for playoffs so I bet Colorado will just wait it out on their other 2 goalies until he is ready to go
Peter Budaj has played 20 games for them so far and has GAA and SV% are about the same as Aebischer anyway
I think they are hoping Jose just needs the Heatly treatment, a change of scenery
and I dont think Aebischer will be the no.1 goalie right now with out earning it, Huet has been really good but he also hasnt proven he can handle many games, I think they will probably just use a 2 goalie system sort of like the Wild were doing with Fernandez and Roloson

Gimme Shelter, sorry about that rough loss to the sabres on Friday. Gotta love the Pat Lafontaine Ceremony, It's too bad that prick Domi had to make a wize crack about it during the ceremony for his 1000th game.

umm, alright.

And I don’t see how Domi is a prick
I'll admit he has done his share of dirty plays but its hockey and if you cant take it your a pussy. The only time hes really ever crossed the line is his elbow on Niedermayer.
Just because he plays hard, scraps and works hard to win he’s a prick... alright
He’s one of the classiest guys off the ice and not many other players have done nearly as much for their community as Domi has

i agree on david not becoming the bona fide #1 in mtl although we'll see
but the big thing really from the av's perspective is what happens if budaj and his 20 careeer games or vitaly kolesnik and his whopping 7 career games both falter in the pressure of playoff or in this case, playoff like games that are associated with the stretch run and jose doesnt come back in time to save their ass?
ie their current 6 point lead in the west on 9th place anahiem disappears.. (and given the ducks have 3 games at hand it wont take too long)
and they end up with nothing to show for the trade of thier #1 goalie but a #1 goalie who has a week or so to get used to his new team and how they play and has to win everything to get them in the playoffs basically
not that i dont think jose is capable of that mind you.. but its still a curious trade to make imo

no other player has ever done that before
and maybe the idiot fan shouldnt have been trying to jump in the box with him
which is beside the point anyway, because thats not what i said
if you could read, i said
"He’s one of the classiest guys off the ice"

well Aebischer has been off and on this year anyway, so right now budaj isnt much of a downgrade for them, and it might be more of a trade for their future then a fix right now
if he gets back this season and can start to steal games again (like the last few playoffs hes been in -Boston-) great, if he doesnt hes still under contract next year and they can see where it goes from there

for a team thats already cap-strapped that may not be the smartest move to make
Posted: 3/9/2006, 8:05 pm

but the cap is supposed to go up around the 42 - 45 mark next season

if theo plays like the theo of old then it'll be worth it
but even if that cap only goes up by the minimum to 42 mil then thats a 6 million dollar swing (given the decrease to the hab's cap is 3.4 mil for theo vs aebischers 1.9 mil cap hit) plus the extra million.. that 6 million (which works both ways) could be the difference been signing a "high end" player (or a big name star) in the offseason vs a smaller name player or depth player
