Turkeys visit NY town for US Thanksgiving, leave single-file before dinner
Published: Saturday, November 24, 2007 | 1:38 PM ET
Canadian Press: THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

GREENLAWN, New York - Fifteen wild turkeys strutted into a suburban New York hamlet on US Thanksgiving Day and then left just in time to avoid dinner.

The turkeys showed up Thursday morning, drawing crowds of spectators, but left marching in single file - at about 1 p.m.

Suffolk County police were called because the turkeys created a traffic hazard while crossing a road. But the officers didn't have to intervene because the birds kept walking and haven't been seen or heard from since.

Resident Joyce Logan said there was no practical joke involved and the turkeys could have wandered into the Long Island neighbourhood about 60 kilometres east of Manhattan from a nearby wooded area.

Logan said the birds walked away in a straight line and she went back inside to prepare a store-bought turkey dinner for her family.

Unlike some neighbours, Logan said, she never had thoughts of catching one of the turkeys in her yard and turning it into dinner, joking that she can't eat something she's met.

So....the United States is now in the first month of a recession. Tax break coming our way (single filed individuals will get 800.00 who made less than 85K).

However, I have a better idea to cure this.

Microsoft made their bid on Yahoo today. 44.6 billion dollars, or something to that effect.

Wonder if buying out yahoo would benefit Xbox in any way, shape, or form.

Just heard on Fox News that M$'s bid on Yahoo got REJECTED; stated that the offer of 44.6 billion (or whatever it was) was too LOW.

Interesting.

First rule of Negotiation: Always reject the first offer

MS has deep pockets and can offer more.

first off.. this only means that the board rejected. it all depends on how many of those w/ voting shares reject it

secondly, yahoo may not necessarily get more

thirdly, good move in the long run and potentially this sets up a greater opportunity with some sorta partnership of sorts with google

Partnership? Between Google and Microsoft you mean?

I don't see that happening. However, guess time shall tell.

Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.

Would you quit being such a fucking pessimist about shit? I realize it's too soon to tell but come on. The tax rebate? Castro resigning? Can't we be happy about ANYTHING around here?!

Sorry for being realistic and having a different POV.

Raul has already been in power for over a year now and we havn't seen much change.

I'm just saying, everything that comes up that can have good positive impacts on things, you have a negative attitude about it :P

I believe Raul has only been in power for Fidel since over the summer. I could be wrong.

Anyways....to my point.

Raul has also stated that there will be an election; he is not simply going to "take" power. Raul has also stated that he is open to the idea of a fully democratic election.

Raul could not do much given that Fidel did not officially resign until today.
