I was actually thinking of the solstice. What don't you like about it?

I recommend getting a used phone. Ask your parents / grandparents how many different phones they owned before 1990, and how many they have gone through since 2000. Don't let half a dozen commercials on TV per hour dictate what you need.

Oh yeah and look at this:

Yes but Im not actually paying for the phone. it's an upgrade. The cost doesn't matter. It's free. I know what you mean, bu I'm eligible to dozens of free, new, and good phones

The Solstice has a lot of software issues that I personally can't get over. Once I am due for an upgrade, I'll get rid of it in a heartbeat.

And Josh, that's pretty sad actually, it almost makes me not want to even have a phone. Almost.

I'm thinkin of the LG Neon.

God i hate the cell phone business. Everything is so overly complicated.

Cost =/= money.

It's good that at least you're replacing a broken phone vs. just upgrading from a perfectly good phone with your service provider's yearly free product consumption program.

One other thing to keep in mind is that the old phone and battery should be properly disposed of -- they contain metals that shouldn't just be tossed in the trash.

I effing HATE my LG. So much. It's such a piece of crap. My dad also had nothing but problem with his LG - he got rid of it less than half way through his contract and went with a Motorola.

My mom has my old Samsung. I want it back :(. That was an amazing phone.

Yeah, I have an LG Neon. It was terrible up until yesterday, when I traded it in for a replacement. Now it works better. Still, it's very slow. Like they put a bunch of neat features on a phone that couldn't quite handle it.

But the full keyboard is nice.

Would you recommend it? Cause that's the one i was going to get.

I have a Neon too. I've had it for a couple months over a year...I hate it right now. The AIM function barely works and the internet is impossible to read. Plus, it was way overpriced. I essentially use it now for phone calls and texting, and for having paid $150 for it, it wasn't worth it. Oh, and the buttons are too small and the pictures it takes aren't that great...I like the SD card that it uses, but a lot of phones come with that now so it's nothing special. I like LG phones, but I'd rather have a Motorola over this one now.

I had an iPhone. It was too expensive.

I mean, all I really care about is texting. How's the text messaging?

The texting is fine. But if that's all you're interested in, I wouldn't spend the money on a Neon. I'd go with a simpler phone that isn't as expensive. Unless you're getting it for free, in which case, whatevs. They said though that we HAD to get a data plan (for the internet) if we got that phone. So be careful, they may tack on a $10/month charge (or more now since AT&T changed their data policies recently) for something you don't want to use. And if they told us that just to make a bigger sale, and it's not actually REQUIRED, then I will be pissed.

Hrrrm. I didn't have to pay for a data plan at all for mine. I don't use the internet on this one.

I've found texting to be great, though. If you're getting it for free-to-cheap, go for it. I wouldn't have paid $150 for it, though.

m2, I have a Samsung of some sort. Of the two phones I've ever had, both were Samsungs, and both fit my criteria: texting was good and I could drop it frequently. I personally wouldn't go for a touch-screen if you just want texting, because... well, that reduces speed and if you want to be badass and eat chips at the same time as you text, it'll get gross.

To shamelessly 'throw this out there', today there was an undergraduate awards ceremony in my school. I ended up with an honour roll certificate, a silver medal from winning second place at badminton districts, the spirit of drama award, female athletic of the year runner-up award, general proficiency, general achievement, and academic achievement.

I was delightfully surprised because I was sure this one girl was going to take most of the awards, particularly academic achievement, but apparently I have a higher average than her.

Also: In true Shanae fashion (I guess only Riley would understand since he met me, haha), on the way up to accept an award, I tripped and fell flat on my face. :)

Hey, good job! And congrats on the award as well. :p No, but that's pretty cool. Graduation awards feel pretty nice. The only one I ever got was for "consistently making other people's days better." A nice way to say, "We like you, student with no accomplishments."

On another note, I'm writing a sample episode of Community for a script competition right now. Jokes are hard.

hahaha congrats shanae!

i also have a samsung phone. i like it. it's a crappy little thing, very very basic, but it does what i need it to do. i mostly use it to play the new york times crosswords :happytears: i've dropped it a dozen times and it still works.

Wow, two people posting simultaneously in one topic on the CM. I bet it's been a while since that happened.
