This makes me sad!!! Whats wrong with reading books?!?!

Honestly, at the high school level, I'm beginning to think they should be cutting down the number of books and pounding grammar into their adolescent minds until "comma splice" has the power to haunt.

I feel like I overuse commas the majority of the time.

On a completely unrelated note, am I the only one who thinks YouTube's new layout is shitty?

Agreed. I'm taking a university grammar course now, and it's going great, but I feel completely cheated that it's all so new to me. I didn't know what a gerund was until yesterday. It's apparently the course that most english majors fail at least once.

It's been randomly going back and forth between this new one and the old one for a few weeks now, but I guess it's official now...

That class isn't so bad. I got somewhere between a 70-80 in it and I am terrible at grammar. If you actually go to class and follow along it's alright.

It's people who say stuff like "I seen dat one" that fail over and over.

Although my prof managed to create a sentence with four consecutive "then"'s for our final exam. That was a delight.

This year in English, we basically do three novel studies (The Outsiders, Julius Caesar, and The Giver), and the rest of our units are done on short stories and poems. It's basically read, write notes, answer questions, and occasionally do vocabulary works.

Many of my classmates refuse to use quotation marks and paragraphs.

Since I haven't been around in a while, here's a quick Shanae update: I performed the play I wrote at a competitive level. We didn't achieve first or second place, understandably, so I don't know where we ranked since those are the only two places named, but I won an acting merit. Our play opens with a ten minute monologue delivered by yours truly. I swear, every second line I delivered, I had to pause to wait for the audience to stop laughing. I was getting applause during the monolgue. It was incredible.

How's CM-land?

Is a gerund like a spleen?

I don't have a clue what a spleen is, but I'm fairly certain that I use mine correctly most of the time.

I hope the degree you're working towards doesn't let you down as much as mine has.
