Not at all. He's one of the very nicest people I've met and is very kind and friendly.

and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.

[glow=blue]Hm... well here's my view on things mentioned here:

Honestly, what I like about Matthew Good and I seem to like even more as each day goes by, is the fact that he doesn't seem to be too influenced by what people want him to play, to create, in terms of music. He always seems to throw out the records that he wants to, making the music he's always loved.

I've always liked his lyrics, his songtitles (most of the time quite unusual), his video clips (somewhat always fun to watch). I don't think he's an asshole... certain people were born to say things out loud, in order to shock others, cause by being shocked they will stop and THINK.

There's this one brazillian musician called Lobão, this guy has been known for bein quite controversial and unique, he always says what he wants, but as someone mentioned, he's also a guy that does his homework, that knows what he's talking about... so he once said something like: I'm just doing my job, what I feel like I have to do, which is say certain things that NEED to be said, in order to make people THINK. It's so fucking hard to stop and think, it takes time, effort and sometimes it sucks to think and realize that certain things are not the way you thought they were'.

So anyway, my point is that, from what I know Matt Good has nice ideas and when by being critical and saying certain things off the top of his mind, he's trying to alarm people about certain things. I like his blog, and he does write some very interesting stuff... as mentioned before, he knows what he's talking about. So that makes me respect the guy even more.

He seems to be able to make mainstream rock music without selling out to record labels and shit. I really think it sucks that his music doesn't get the recognition it should. I wish he was known here in Brazil as well as in the US (more than he is, of course).

Now about the OLP Live CD... hm I honestly think it's much cooler and interesting for a band to record ONE single show instead of three. Trying to get the best versions out of 3 different shows doesn't make it very spontaneous as well as doesn't represent very well the LIVE energy since that live CD doesn't stand for ONE live performance, which means that wouldn't be what I would hear and see, if I were to see Our Lady Peace live.

I myself think the DVD is quite boring. I don't like Jeremy drums, the way they sound, I don't like the setlist, I honestly don't dig the whole lights and how the whole DVD was recorded pretty much in the dark... I think the lights should have been used in a different way. I don't like the way it was shot and stuff... there are tons of other live DVDs which I think that are more entertaining to watch, in terms of stage presence and stuff. Once again the whole overdubbing thing seems to screw up the whole 'live energy' type of feel once that when you're watching them live, they won't be overdubbed.

I, myself, think that a LIVE DVD/CD should have been recored with Mike, a while before Gravity was put out. Someone mentioned something about Arnold Lanni being OLP's 'brain' or something. Well, I actually believe that Mike Turner and him were the two brains in Our Lady Peace. Since they left, the band seems to be taking a different direction towards music, which I don't seem to like so much.

While Matt Good seems to be making awesome music as each album is release, OLP seems to scares me more and more, sort of like selling out and not being the band that they were for the previous 4 albuns. I do not believe that a banda that recorded such bright albuns as Happiness and Spiritual Machines are happy making music like Sell My Soul, Do You Like It, Innocent... I honestly doubt that they think that is quality music and that is what they've always wanted to accomplish, considering their musical past.

Anyway... yeah huge post, that's just my view and opinion on certain things. Feel free to agree or disagree.[/glow]

it just seems like Mike and Arnold really did bring a lot to the band....kinda like Matt said....although i wouldn't go as far as to say Arnold basically wrote all of their stuff

LMAO. Well, you pretty much summed it up into one sentenced, rockz!

That's the thing, I wonder how influent Bob Rock is, in the huge shift that OLP has made into their music... I wonder how much of this was cause by Bob and record companies. As I said before, I doubt that they're happy making such silly music considering they've made a HAPPINESS album before, which in my opinion has the coolest videos and tunes :) Oh well... now we're looking for a shit fight LOL

The thing is band-wise OLP have way more talent at their disposal, all Matt had was his modest guitar skills, ian and daves lazy work habits, and Rich Priske

matt just happens to be a really talented songwriter, and flair for the emotional and tugging of peoples heart strings. He comes off as a very honest, normal guy in all his songs.

but as far as musicianship olp had them, and up untill avalanche they really did more out of basics structure songs too. But Matt just seemed to have something, something he kept and nurtured over time and OLP threw away

now while Matt sounds more mature then ever, OLP are almost starting to sound juvinile.
