that song is uber-lame.
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

well... aren't u just a dick.
And a big fuck you too.
At least Rob is one of the few people to think about what I said, realizing that it makes perfect sense.
Thanks Rob.

That would blow.
I would have said the same thing about Stealing Babies. That song is brilliant.

Goodbye you liar,
Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire
Take apart your head

Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.

Wow... Teenage Punching Bag.
I know this is going to sound way too serious, but that just about bangs the nail to OLP's coffin if you'd ask me. I mean what the hell!? 'Teenage punching Bag' that has got to be one of the worst titles i have ever heard in my life. I'm not sure if anyone read my post about the album title, but i finf titles to be very important. Imagine if 4am had a different name... personally, i just couldn't look at it the same way. Titles give their usurper(sp) added depth and more meaning. Now i am not saying that good title=good song or bad title=bad song, however i do think titles make a difference.
I made a thread saying that Our Lady Peace's new cd was going to be their most important album to date. This will either put the nail to their coffin or reincarnate a spectacular band. I agree with what someone else said, Bob Rock has got to go. We have proof that Bob was pushing Raine to make the lyrics less complex. I am still very dissapointed that they returned to him after gravity.
I know many people can, but i cannot look at gravity as a part of OLP. The first thing to come to my head when i hear their name is 'Superman's Dead.' I don't hear the incredible drums or remarkable guitar work, i don't even hear Raines then magnificent voice. I just remember how i felt the first time i heard that song and how spectacular it was. I shut out all memories of a band playing mediocre music with an annoying vocalist saying 'I know you're out there, somewhere out there' infront of a bunch of teenyboppers who are jumping off walls. Gravity is something that might forever keep Our Lady Peace from being looked upon as a perfect band in my eyes. Before it was released, I always felt that they were the best thing out there. And maybe, just maybe... knowing their potential, they can prove me wrong. I know i hope so, but it just doesn't seem likely.

All this "make or break" crap about the new album is just that....crap. I don't see it as being a milestone in their career unless they are going to do a fantastic album that blows everyone away.
This album is going to sell. Period. They will maintain a record contract and probably wont stop playing music in the near future. I don't see any reason to think otherwise. People love this band whether they bought Gravity as their first OLP album or Naveed. They are going to keep fans and they are going to gain new ones. Thats just how it goes. Its not like they have an obligation to impress people because they bought their last album. Music is music. I don't think people need to lose sleep over it.

I would be the one who found that "news" and put it on the hub... I found it on the German OLP community... so I have no idea if it's for real or not. And if it is, who cares? It's just a song title. You guys need to stop being so melodramatic.

First off there is no need for people to be cussing one another out on here. You can disagree without the hostility.
I have noticed for the past few years now that alot of fans have been disappointed in the direction OLP seem to be heading while other fans welcome the change. I think it was Rob on here who said people's taste change.
there is something I do want to bring attention to that always bugged me. People have complained how Raine seems to repeat himself with the lyrics to the new songs and Gravity songs EX: Not Enough. I wonder do any of you actually listen to the older songs? Raine has repeated stuff for years as far back as Naveed, even Superman's Dead and Mafia. In Naveed he says *It is gone(repeating *Gone* about 16 times). In Superman's Dead howw many times does he say-*Doesn't anybody ever know*, or *Any*? In Mafia he repeats *You* over and over . There are alot more songs I can give examples of. so the repeating is nothing new. Although WIC says *More* about 17 times. I actually like that song. I love the guitar intro.
As for OLP's future. Who knows what will happen? Maybe the songs we heard will be on it, maybe not. We may hate the new CD. We may find new found love for OLP. Whatever-everyone here is or was a big fan at one time or another.
I personally still love OLP's music
. I still love the lyrics Raine writes. There is beauty in simplicity also.
P.S As for Steve being better then Mike/ Mike being better then Steve. It is all a matter of opinion. They are both talented guitar players. Their styles are different. I don't think one is any better then the other. I loved watching Mike play some songs(esp Car Crash) I love watching Steve play some songs. I prefer Steve's style because I am more into that type of guitar player. Doesn't mean I think he is better or worse then Mike.

For me there is. I think BBTS-is a beautiful song lyrically. For you it isn't there. That is your opinion and I have the right to disagree. I will say there are a couple of songs since SM I don't care for. Doesn't really have anything to do with lyrics, I just don't like the songs. yet there are others who like the songs.

Does everyone think BBTS is the stand-out track of Gravity? I do, and, from what I can remember, the band does, I mean, it seems to be the song they talk about the most. You know, with the whole, 'that song was totally live, and all the lyrics weren't down, so you can here me mumble in a few places.' I think it's the best song on Gravity hands down.

It's the rest of Gravity (aside from a few lines) and most (if not all) of the new stuff that I don't like.
Again, this is all subjective, though.
You know what song really annoys me from Gravity
All For You.

To be honest with you, although I like Gravity, I think Raine's best lyrics were the songs on Spiritual Machines.(except BGM- I don't like that song at all).
As for the new songs I really like WIC, WTS and No Warning. I didn't care for Talk is Cheap, Not Afraid, Our Time Is Fading(although if I think of it as a James Bond theme I can deal with it and I like the lyric Tomorrow's not today)
I still overall don't mind the direction they are going. I still think the live shows are incredible to watch and I get alot out of them.

I would agree with that. And I mean, since it seems that they're the most proud of BBTS, maybe the newer stuff will be up to that standard, or past it. I personally thought Wipe.. sounded similar to BBTS.

I like Sorry. The chorus sort of reminded me of some of their earlier stuff...
Anyway, I'm looking forward to the album. I doubt it will "Make or break" OLP. I think SM sold the worst of the OLP albums, and it didn't "break" them. After they made a lot of fans with Gravity, I'm sure not all of them will drop the band and move on. I think at this point there are enough fans who will buy the album under almost any circumstances that OLP is going to be fine.
Of course, I can't comment on the quality of the new songs... is there any chance "Our Time Is Fading" will be on there? Because I like that one.
Oh yeah, and as for Teenage Punching Bad (heh, I thought Wheatus too), I agree with whoever mentioned Stealing Babies. OLP has had great songs under, at first glance, terrible titles before.
