Um, I'm not particularly fond of Gravity, but I can listen to it. Nothing extremely breathtaking, but I'm not a picky guy. These clips sound different, and I am actually looking forward to the new album as a cool listen.

"Angels Losing Sleep" (on it's current path) would turn out to be one of my favorite OLP songs ever. Complete guarantee.

Hmmm, of all the clips, which one would you guys see as the first single?

I personally find "Will the Future Blame Us" as my leading candidate, but "Angels" "String" and "Picture" are all good songs. The guitar does suit their new sounds very well. (Applauds Steve)

Honestly... these new clips are growing on me.

"Angels" and "Future" are the leading candidates for the first single. And I think both songs are amazing, which is something Gravity lacked, an amazing song (one could argue for BBTS, I suppose).

I am looking forward to the album.

Perhaps the most amusing comparison, and I hate to bust on the band, Rich pointed out that the intro to World on a String sounds very similar to the theme song from "The Facts of Life."

On a positive note the intro to Don't Stop reminds me a little of the intro to Red House, just slowed down a little.

lol, that's pretty funny Matt.

I wouldn't call Bring Back the Sun a great song. It really does pick up halfway thorugh, but its also very sluggish and uninteresting in its first 3 minutes (save the beautiful riff)

I really like the bass this time around........It just seems to suit the music and compliments the songs by adding strong energy......am I the only one?

I could see Don't Stop making an interesting single. I like Steve during it.

Anyway, here's me attempting to categorize the songs.

"Beyond Expectation" Category (Great, even from these clips I can tell I will love these songs):

Will the Future Blame Us?
Angels Losing Sleep (this definitely seems like it will be one of my favorite OLP songs ever. Just an incredible sound)

"Has Potential" Category (Good, potential to be great, but clips aren't telling enough):

Picture
Don't Start (I really like Steve on this one)

"WTF, HuH?!" Category (For songs that I wasn't expecting, but the sound surprised me and I don't know what to think):

World On a String (I think the intro sounds like circus music or something)

"The WTF Happened?" Category (Vastly different from previous versions):

Wipe (the beginning sounds like "Dream On" by Aerosmith)
Best Day (I could do without it)

i've made so many comparison's already to tons of u2 songs. it's crazy really. listen to the guitar in the background of 'angels' during the chorus. it's very u2 souding (sounds like 'pride').

the stuff so far has been very satisfying. i'm really happy with the sound. i don't think the songs overproduced nor underproduced. they just sound very different. i mean honest, how many of you guys were expecting the songs to sound like they did?

also, maybe it is just me. but it doesn't seem like not afraid would fit as well on that album (i could be wrong though), which i think is a good thing. i liked not afraid, but i don't think it flows now as well with the other songs. the others seem to have a different meaning/sound to them.

all in all, i'm really happy with the direction.
thanks to everyone for getting the songs out responsibly and respectfully especially matt, josh, and malicka. good work guys!

Most haven't so far, but I actually liked Wipe... then again, I didn't hear the live version until about a week ago, so I didn't have time to get attached to it or anything. Still, I like the transition with, "This is waaaaaaAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR..."
I just wanna get out,
Stuck inside of this.
Waiting for something else,

I really like "Wipe.." as well! And I heard it live so I'm not biased here. It's probably my favourite next to "Angels Losing Sleep" which is simply AMAZING!

"World On a String" sounds like a fun and upbeat song...a type of sound OLP hasn't done before.

Some of the songs I didn't like when I first heard it but after giving it a few more listens (such as "Will the Future Blame Us" and "Don't Stop"), they're growing on me!

"Picture" also has to be up there as one of my favourites so far as well. The instrumentalization is really good.

This is definitely an improvement from Gravity and I didn't mind Gravity so much. The sound has grown in complexity again which I'm really happy about and the sounds seem to mesh really well. I'm really looking forward to this album!
And if I don't make it known that
I've loved you all along
Just like sunny days that
We ignore because
We're all dumb and jaded
And I hope to God I figure out
What's wrong

HAHAHAHAHAHAH. Best OLP comparison since "Walking in Circles" to "Danger Zone".

he isn't. it really does. there's also a wicked falsetto that cuts off.
one thing i really like is in angels losing sleep, where raine loses his breath and you can hear him gasp, just adds a lot to the song.

did you guys get the raw feel?

Its very U2 style...with OLP flare. That's ok with me. U2 makes good music. The falsettos are back and that is all I ever asked for from OLP! Bring back the falsettos, and Raine did. The writing quality improved from Gravity, but they are still simple songs. Maybe Raine is tired of being contradictary, or being clever. Either way, the music is good, the writing is good, and the presentation of the music is exciting. In short, I like the new songs a lot, and I totally look forward to the new album. I'll buy it as soon as it comes out.

My favorite is Picture, because I've heard the whole song and know what comes after the sample cuts off. Just wait until you hear the whole song. It's breathtaking, and heart wrenching.

Will The Future Blame Us or Don't Ask Why...live, I wasn't as impressed with it, but it's a far cry from Gravity, and an improvement over Gravity for the most part. Don't Ask Why has that repeative vibe about it...like Walking IN Circles. I'll take it though.

enjoy Angels losing Sleep a lot. It is next to Picture in standing...
