It's now associated with a Mac commercial.
Macs are associated with hippies.
By default the song is now associated with hippies.

Um the girl who sings that song normally sings in french and hebrew... she also sings in english now I guess, but is of french and israeli/tunisian descent.

Not saying I like the song, but I doubt she sings what would be considered hippie exactly.

edit: oh and that commercial was for the macbook air, not the ibook.

Whatever language she sings in, it doesn't much matter to me. The song itself sounded very wrong to me, I called it hippie because it sounded like a song I would see a bunch of hippies singing while giving the peace sign and drawing flowers everywhere.

And whatever, I'm not familiar with Mac and the only laptop I could think of was the iBook. It doesn't really matter though, my comment remains the same.

if i wasn't perfectly content with my computer the way it was, i would totally look into getting a mac. it seems so much more stable than windows, though the compatibility issue with some software and stuff would be a hassle.

you couldn't get me to pick an ipod over another mp3 brand name like sandisk and creative, though. the word "overrated" comes to mind

Speaking of which have you ever used Blender?
I keep hearing that name tossed around and it's supposed to be just like 3DSMax

Windows is plenty stable untill you go clicking on those adds promising a new iPod or a $500 gift certificate to Wal-Mart if you can eat more bannanas than the monkey.

My Windows XP hasn't crashed once since I got it in November. I hear Vista's pretty shitty, but XP is pretty solid for me. 2000 before that was great too, I had that for a few years and it almost never crashed (and if it did, it was through my own stupidity).

My brother and anyone else I've talked to who has Vista swears it's a piece of crap.

i'd say hippies are more associated with what megan was saying... considering macs are associated with pretty much absolutely every single production company in the film and video/television industry.

I have Maya and Zbrush and actually Blender too! I don't use them often though.
I usually stick to whatever I really need for editing. Speaking of which, I was on a film set recently and they were recording all of their footage to compact flash cards. The cameras were 150,000 dollars US. The lenses on their own were around 100,000. It was insane. The cool thing is, the cameras were designed specifically for use with Final Cut. I even told one of the executive producers (this guy is pretty big in hollywood, he's produced movies like k-19 the widowmaker, terminator 3, the whole 10 yards and southland tales) something about Final Cut he hadn't known about multi-track editing that he said he'd talk to the editor about, because it should make things easier!

being plenty stable should be in it's advertising campaign. "hi, our operating system Windows is usually stable! Until you click on stuff! Buy windows today!"

I have Blender on my computer but I haven't actually used it. I opened it up after having learned 3DS Max and the interface was so different it scared me away, heh.

Apparently it's pretty powerful. Maybe not as good as 3DS Max, but damn good considering it's a free program.

It'd be nice to play around with a little 3d animation but I'm just too busy working the day job then working races everyother weekend.

You can still get PCs preloaded with XP. It's just not advertised much.
Or just build a unit from parts and pop an XP cd in it.

As for Vista it's just more resource intensive than XP. It has a lot more safeguards from crap software effing things up than XP. I've thrown alot of things at it and it's managed to stay clean.

I agree, iPods are so so so overrated. If I hadn't gotten mine for free, I'd get something else.

My dad built it for me as a Christmas present, but I needed it in November so he gave it to me early. I've never had to buy a computer - my dad's always built them for me which is awesome :)

I really want to get a laptop though. Maybe that's what I'll ask for next time ;)
