yeah I know. I'm extremely disappointed. These are the issues where Canada should be stepping up on the world stage. WTF. It's depressing.

Family Kicked Out of Buffet Restaurant

""They told us we are not welcome there anymore," said Dershem, a repeat customer at the Dragon House buffet. "We waste too much food. But the buffet is all you can eat. And you know kids. They won't always eat everything and they want something else."

Dershem said she paid her $5.95 fee on Saturday but was abruptly told to leave after eating one plate of food.

Employees said they had been watching her family on previous trips to the restaurant and were fed up with her habits."

If they were actually as bad as described in the article, I don't blame the restaurant at all:

"They just take one bite and throw it away," said cashier Lin Huyen. "They take four egg rolls and crab ragoon, take one bite of egg roll and throw the whole plate. That is wasting food."

Besides which, she can't take legal action since any business can reserve the right to refuse service to anyone (as long as it's not a matter of discrimination, of course, which this clearly isn't).

most buffet places i've been to have it posted somewhere that they'll charge you for any wasted food...i honestly think the restaurant has every right to ask her to leave if she's not respecting the basic buffet etiquette.

Hahhaha, I read that story.

They should ban her from the restaurant. Wasting food when others are starving is never good (though I'm sure everyone's done it to some extent before).

If you're going to waste their food, then they have every right to kick you out. That's the way it goes loves. People need to stop being such entitlement whores and get over themselves.

We already know this, but I wanted to post this story:

NSA has massive database of Americans' phone calls

"The NSA program reaches into homes and businesses across the nation by amassing information about the calls of ordinary Americans - most of whom aren't suspected of any crime. This program does not involve the NSA listening to or recording conversations. But the spy agency is using the data to analyze calling patterns in an effort to detect terrorist activity, sources said in separate interviews.

"It's the largest database ever assembled in the world," said one person, who, like the others who agreed to talk about the NSA's activities, declined to be identified by name or affiliation. The agency's goal is "to create a database of every call ever made" within the nation's borders, this person added."

well, not really news I would normally post, but "Paul McCartney and wife to split"

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/ ... rtainment/

"Rumours of a rift between Mills McCartney and the singer's children — especially Stella McCartney — have circulated for years. Talk centred around the idea that Mills McCartney — who is nearly half his age — wanted to devote more time to campaigning against land mines and fur."

Sandy said "please don't leave me for land mines and fur"

Waitress who never smoked' dies of lung cancer

"TORONTO -- Heather Crowe, known as the face of Canada's anti-smoking movement, has succumbed to lung cancer in Ottawa at the age of 61.

The long-time waitress, who never smoked, is widely known for television ads in which she describes how she contracted cancer from second-hand smoke at the restaurant where she worked for 40 years.

She was diagnosed in 2002, fighting the cancer with chemotherapy, radiation and steroids before it went into remission. However, she learned last August that the cancer had spread and she was losing her battle with the disease."

This hits me in a very sore spot given that my aunt was diagnosed with lung cancer last week and never smoked a day in her life.
