As I told Josh yesterday, using a 3 chip camera made a huuuuuuuge difference. It was a really awesome concert.

Here's some audio from NIN in Irvine. I recorded video too, but it won't be as nice as Matt's.

The Becoming

Survivalism

And Street Sweeper Social Club.

Paper Planes

I suggest listening with headphones, not speakers. Then, close your eyes and tell me where the guy singing during Survivalism is standing in relation to us. Yes, to the right. But behind? In front? Directly to our right? I've been trying to work out binaural recording technique but I don't think I've been able to get my microphones quite far enough into my ears to get a true 3-dimensional image when played back over headphones.

Let me know what you think.

That sounded pretty cool. The guy in Survivalism sounded like he was slightly behind where you were (Blair thought he was in front and to the left, but he was wearing the headphones backwards :P)
It's a neat recording though - you've got the crowd without them overwhelming the sound of the band too much.

I got to see Survivalism with Saul Williams doing backing vocals. ATL = win.

I was supposed to see Animal Collective last week, but I was pretty sick so I didn't go. That was sad.

Even if you had to blow off GREEN DAY to do it.
That happened to me when they played Bowery in 05'. It was the same night as Green Day at Giants Stadium.

Was the show you were going to in Philly? They are playing NYC on July 27th and July 28th at MSG. I got tickets for the 27th.. YOu could always sell off everything and come back to the City for them :P

Then again you could always bloww off OLP..  J/K.... HOnestly if the OLP show feel on the same day as one of the other shows I was going to. As much as it killed me I still go to original show.. There are too many shows here with people playing the same night.

Summers in NYC can suck during summer concert season..

More from the NINJA 2009 concert:

Street Sweeper Social Club - Promenade. Tom Morello stops just short of humping his guitar and setting it on fire, beginning at the 2:30 mark.

I thought about heading to NYC for GD, too... but... it's far and not really cheap... and I'd have to go alone. So I'm sure I won't.

If you change your mind let me know.. I am going the 27th. I can try to sneak you down to my seat. My friend and I have the aisle seats..
