i am now convinced that 'world on a string' was at one point 'vampires'. that song has easily changed the most out of the bunch. the lyrics are pretty much the same idea ("will you bring me back to life" and i think i heard him say "revolution" in the olp.net clip), but the tone of the song has changed. it's basically 'vampires' re-written and to the tone of another song.

That's what I mean.
I think the lyrics were switched around like what happened to some of the songs on gravity. like i said in a post earlier, i think some choruses and verses were switched around at some point. they had a lot of time to think about that option!

There are Radiohead songs that contain the same or similar lyrics, such as . . . "Dinosaurs roaming the earth" in Optimistic and "the dinosaurs roam the earth" in Where I End and You Begin. Also, "I don't know why I feel so tongue-tied, I don't know why I feel so skinned alive" in both Cuttooth and Myxomatosis.
Perhaps some of the lyrics were just switched around in these two OLP songs, or maybe Raine used the same line without realizing it. Or it could be done to tie two ideas together or something. But probably Bob Rock just thought it was a good line and told Raine to use it again.

I disagree with that part too.
Just so you know.

I can't say I really like them, and "hate" is such a strong word. I prefer to call "Gravity" mediocre, because I at least like 3 or 4 or 5 songs on the album. They certainly could've done an album where I didn't like any of the songs period. That said, I do think these 7 songs are an improvement. It's still pretty streamlined stuff, but at least there seems to be an enthusiasm and energy with these new songs, when mostly everything on "Gravity" seemed uninspired, even on some of the songs that I did think were pretty good. Hopefully that will make for a better listening experience right off the bat, but we'll see.

I agree about the energy and enthusiasm. I don't think "Best Day" is a really good song, and of these 7 is probably my least favorite, but I could see it bringing down a house live. That being said, however, I think it sounds too much like a "radio punk" song, and I'd rather OLP make "radio rock" than "radio semi-punk". However, I do really like the chorus.
But like you, I see the improvement, even if I don't hate Gravity. And an improvement over Gravity is just increasing an album's listenability. Even though I know better music is out there, I'd rather listen to Gravity than a lot of the stuff on the radio, so on that note I am looking forward to the new album ever since I heard these clips.
Hey! You guys have no doubt seen the new MIXING WORLD ON A STRING VIDEO? Well, what do you think of the new sounds we heard from it...
Like we hear Raine sing, "This is WORLD ON A STRING," during the song...there's also this line we can catch that is AMAZING to me lyrically and which is sung so well:
"I see the girl, I see the path of revolution. I see the happy, I see the sad, the absolution."
Post your thoughts? I think there's much more amazing lyrics hidden then what we've heard.
