it's the colonel's job, although one can easily argue that it's a hobby of his, since it's a passion for him.

Weird story here:
Every summer of the first 15 years of my life, my family rented a cottage on a lake for 2 weeks. The owners of the cottage grounds were (for maybe the last 10 years) an old husband and wife. Their son also did a lot of the handywork around the place. Their daughter also lived with them. She tended the garden. She had a mental disability of some sort, and stayed inside most of the time. The only time we knew she was there was when she was screaming profanities at her parents.
Today we found out that sometime in the past couple of days, her father slit her throat.
I've never known someone who took the life of another. My dad said that she probably attacked him in some way, and he did it in defence. But slitting someone's throat - your mentally disabled daughter's throat - is
not a defensive measure... I can't even fathom this. My sister and I used to buy ice cream cones and chipwiches from him. He showed me how to get rid of a leech the first time I got one on my foot. And he
slit his daughter's throat.
Granted, he was a rather quiet, withdrawn man. But his wife was (is?) so sweet. I can't even imagine...

Wow Robbo, that must be horrible to think about. It's hard to fathom someone you knew like that doing something that way I'll bet. I can't believe it was in self-defence either. The poor girl, the poor family.

I know someone that took the life of another too. It's scary. And it makes you think that most people are capable of alot more than you would imagine.

Holy. Shit.

Woah.

That's so sad and scary. It could have been self defence, though. If all he could find to defend himself was a knife and she came at him, it's definitely possible.

So, the newspaper this morning is saying that he shot her, and didn't slit her throat. Which sounds more likely.
But then they also painted a picture of the daughter as a well-rounded, friendly, personably community minded person who suffered from occasional depression.
That's just ... not true. Unless her condition had improved a LOT since we were last there...
Anyways, the dad is being charged with 1st degree murder.
Here's essentially the exact article from the newspaper this morning:

well no it's funny on its first go around, but when it constantly shows re-runs it gets old.
as opposed to old family guys and fututramas.

Ahh I get what you're saying. But, I feel that way about old Family Guys. Futurama, though, is still funny after multiple watches.

I had an exam for english today based on some poems from the textbook, but unfortunatly, I didn't actually buy it.
Yesterday I was at work and my prof came in to buy some coffee, and I mentioned this slight little problem to him. He went home, photocopied the textbook and brought it back to me at work. Because he copied his book, it even had some of his notes in it. Going to college in your hometown in underrated!

My Dad told me today that my step-mothers father passed away yesterday. Its really strange right now. Right after I heard I didn't think about it and ran into a couple of really close friends and didn't even tell them. And now when I think about that, I can't figure out why. So then I sat through class and starting thinking more and more about the fact that he's gone and I kept spacing out. Then I had to tell my prof that I had to go to a funeral for him on wednesday instead of writing a test and that really upset me, even though I didn't mean for it to. Now I'm supposed to go to work tonight and I keep telling myself that it'll be good for me to do work and not think about it and all this...but thats probably not a going to happen. I told myself that I would just tell my prof that I couldn't do the test and that would be it, and I was close to tears in front of him.
Now I'm rambling.
