I let most of my stockers and cashiers know from the start that if you take care of me, I take care of you. I take care of the hard workers by rating them "exceeds expectations" on their evaluations and writing lots of good comments on them. Also, I have the ability to submit a request to the store manager for outstanding associates to receive a pay increase based on their performance. So before I finish up on nights I wanted to pay back some of my best employees who have been the backbone of my operation. I have one that the store manager already wants to give an increase to, and she told me I can select three more people for pay increases. I have 5-6 associates that I feel are above standard performers. Picking three of them is going to be tough.
