Grrrr I think the Tragically Hip show that was meant to go on sale isn't happening any more :(

But I got tickets for Morrissey at the Palladium (big old theatre) in May - he'd better play lots of Smiths songs.

And I also have a ticket to see Death Cab for Cutie in March

Nice!

I hope they extend the end of their tour up into the Oregon/Washington area... this will be their 3rd US tour for With Teeth, and they've only come to the northwest once so far.

my friend picked me up a ticket. I will more excited when I get it in my hands.. Things always happen. She said she mailed it Saturady. I should be getting it sometime this week.

HOB was cool. I saw Duran Duran there. I hope OLP play there. That would be so sweet..

I know Nikki and Melissa would be there.

Hehe, but of course. ;)

That would be incredibly cool. I saw Jamiroquai there.

I saw both The Black Keys and Spoon for the first two times this year. Both were at Lollapalooza, and then, I saw each at a show other than Lollapalooza.

I was blown away by both. The Black Keys at the Metro were easily the best concert I remember in 2005. Spoon was back in May, but I remember being very very happy with the show.

The Lolla sets were great, too, but they were festival...both towards the ends of longs days.

hey. Just got back from a Jane Siberry concert last night. I know most of you will be "who"?? Jane is an amazing intense woman, she is a story teller and a humourist with the most amazing voice, ethereal. Jane has come to a point in her life to loose the trappings of 'stuff' as it weighs her down. Read about her house contents sale http://www.sheeba.ca/index2.html she has also introduced cottage pricing of her music downloads. this is not a sliding scale, nor a pay what you can system, rather pay what you feel is right. Pay what you feel makes you a legitamate contender in ther transaction. I love it. she is so inspiring

I'm only familiar with her from The Crow soundtrack...I think she's playing Milwaukee, too...if she didn't already.

I saw Richard Ashcroft last night (he was the singer in the Verve and Kruno loves him) - he was very good, though didn't play as many singles as at other shows :(

It was an excellent show. She played completely by herself - no band. On several songs she recorded a segment of the song (either the vocal or the guitar) while she was playing it and then she would play it back and play something different over the top of it to give a layered "full-band" sound. She didn't play "Galaxies" which kind of surprised me since that's her hit off the new album, but I love all of her songs, so that didn't really matter to me at all. I got to talk with her briefly after her performance and she seemed really appreciative of the group of fans who came out to see her and have their CDs signed. Speaking of signing CDs, I got my copy of Year of Meteors signed! My only complaint about the show is that she didn't play longer. She was opening for Colin Meloy, so she only played about a 40 minute set. Colin was good (I'm not really familiar with his stuff) but IMO, the 2 artists were in the wrong order. Anyway, it was a great night and I would recommend anyone who likes original mellow rock music to see her whenever she comes to your area!

Glad there's another fan around! I never knew anyone else who knew her let alone liked her. Well, except my mom, but she only found out about her through hearing me play her CDs.

Colin meloy of the decemberists is a musical genius, but can seem a bit odd to the untrained ear. Laura Veirs is pretty good though. NPR streamed the show tonight in Virgina and it will be available for download on there as well. Colin is an amazing lyricist and I encourage you to check out The Decemberists (his band) if you like it as you call it "original mellow rock music".
