Gail, I could see how that would work. But I don't think that's what I need at the moment.
YOu should look into herbel remedies as Nikki and Kathy have suggested..
What about energy drinks.. Like ensure or things like that.. I had a friend who had to do that cause her metabolism would burn things quickly. It seem to give her energy.
Good luck though. Nobody wants to feel like crap on a day to day basis.

Ensure isn't an energy drink, it's a liquid meal for those who can't have solid food.

soozie you should consult a TCM (traditional chinese medicine) practitioner. They maybe able to help. Instead of medicating the symptoms they try to find the causes and look at the body as a whole.
As for metabolism I can only assume you are hypothyroid. I hear ya. It really drags you down. If you want to disucss further fee free to pm me. Also yoga in particular shoulder stands are purported to help an underactive thyroid. I hope you feel better and do know that diet can have a huge impact on your energy. I know a number of celiacs and those that have a hard time with wheat and wheat can also have a real impact on your energy level. Some people are more susceptable to carbo coma.
Again i hope you are feeling better soon

The stupid thing is, technically I'm hyper! I don't have a thyroid any more, but that's where the doctors want to keep me. All the other hyper symptoms I was getting from the last dosage change have gone, I'm just tired all the time. I am eating healthily, but I think I need to pay more attention to the detail of what I'm eating when.

Hey Sooze
so you have gone from the hyper symptoms to basically hypo. I hear you. I had no idea what was going on last year felt like crap all the time. I finally went to the docs and found out that my thyroid levels were 19. Hmm no wonder my hair was falling out, my skin falling off and no matter how hard i tried i could barely get out of bed.
I did find that eating less carbs or eating them earlier in the day helped alot. I think this is because where I would have resorted to rice pasta potatoes or bread I was eating alot more non starchy veggies. I also find that my energy levels are cyclical (as all hormones are) and I feel a lot better when I go to the gym. Even if it is only half an hour on the bike it makes a big difference. If you think about it that exercise is also releasing hormones that for me at least positively feedback to increased energy.
If i were you i would keep a diary of what you ate, your activity, and how you felt at the beginning, through out and the end of the day. You may find a pattern. You will also have concrete evidence for your docs to look at.
Hang in there

Woah, 19 is not good. When I had my treatments I had to stop my medication to send my TSH up to 30 or more and I felt awful. Now I'm somewhere below 0.1. I just wish I knew what it was back in June/July when I felt good so I could somehow persuade my doctor to let me try for that again.
I'm definitely feeling the post lunch slump a lot more, so I'm going to look for some nice low carb things to try. And things are getting a little better now it's lighter for longer in the evenings too. I'm still exhausted later, but those last couple of hours at work are a little easier.
