Although I don't always agree with Matt's politcal views and such, the man is pretty damn smart, and always has a ton of stuff to back up his thoughts. He does his homework. The talk of him being an asshole and what not is basically people being pissed of that he tells it like it is and doesn't apologize for it. After hearing Susie talk about how kind and gracious he was to her and Jason a few weeks ago, I have a ton of respect for the man. On top of all that he is a very talented musician and songwriter.
And yes, the feud with OLP is just a bunch of crap.
<nam_kablam> I'll be naked holding a ":O" sign while pumping their door
I respect him and I respect his music.
But that doesn't mean I like it.

OMFG He's so hott too! LOLZ!!!!1
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.
I think another thing is that matt seems a whole lot more down to earth. When I read his site everyday it feels like I'm just reading about some guy rather than one of Canada's biggest rock stars. He's one of the few musicians that isn't put on a pedestool in my opinion.

I AM ME wrote:actually apaprently Matt recently admitted to liking several OLP songs, although he nearly started the fire again with some comments he made about OLP's live cd.
what kind of comments? i dont hat him or anything, ive just heard the same thing you guys have...and a chart magazine article on it.i think that the only reason people think he's a jerk is because he's a perfectionist, and just wants to see the job done right. i don't blame him, im not particularly fond of his personality, nor his music...but i don't have anything aginst him either.
i don't remember the exact thing he said but he said it wasn't cool at all how they used stuff from 3 diffrent shows and then overdubbed it for the record. In his opinion they should have just taped a show and that was that.

No, it wasn't like that. Someone on his messageboard said the OLP live cd had overdubs. Matt reacted by saying that using material from 3 different shows was understandable, but that it was a shame that they did overdubs, since it's supposed to be live.

The actual comment was along the lines as here are 4 guys who couldn't even make bread together. Something along the lines how it is really Arnold Lanni who was the talent behind OLP. It was a stupid comment taken out of total contesxt. Matt even says so on the last spotlight done on him.
It was rather funny. It supposelly stemed from OLP not inviting Matt Good on the Sumemrsault tour in 1998. Neither band really has any hate toward one another. They were talking with Mike and Duncan at one of the SS shows. Mike said something along the lines of Matt, you are funny. Call me and we will get a drink. They also had ED the sock doing an interview with Matt on TV. Ed made acomment about Raine and asked Matt what he thought. He said Raine was all right.
There was never a feud but in the media's mind. Neither band really said anything bad about the other. Also there were alot of fans into both bands. I include myself in that bunch.
Alot of people thought Matt was an Asshole cause of his frankness. I have to say he is one of the very few friendly and intelligent people out there in the music world. He really does care what you think on a number of things and is constantly making us aware of our choices on alot of different issues in the world.
I personally have met Matt a few times and found him to be extremely friendly and funny.

iarecanadian wrote:What exactly did they over-dub on the live cd?
There's a couple parts throughout the cd where it sounds like over-dubbing may have been done. Of course no one knows exactly if its true. And some people around here get mad at the mention of it.
It is sad that they used 3 shows to make the cd. It's technically just a regular album and instead of giving each songs a few days to evolve and such, eac song was done in three takes, with the best parts put on the cd.
I'd imagine they had all four of their instruments set up seperately so that way when they brough the material into the studio they could put it all together, taking the best parts from each instrument much like you would do for an actual album.
Of course all of that is speculation, and merely my own opinion.

I feel that the live cd doesnt capture capture the live sound...if that makes any sense at. Like right now, I am listen to a clip of All For You, that was played on the Fear of the Trailer Park Tour and its so very different from the live cd.
