I would assume you are talking to me about the If You Believe part.
I have to say I was let down cause I love that guitar part, and always thought it was Mike playing.
How do I know? I know from seeing a bunch of OLP shows on the SM tour in front row. I was in front of Jamie alot and saw him play this part. I even remember the guitar he used. It was silver with glitter like on it. Jamie was awesome. I miss him. I also saw him play with Chantal a few years back. He was a real talent. I hope we hear from him soon.

best emtee solo was HOPE 1995. that was the only time you actually came close to hearing any kind of guitar solo form Mike. Also the way Starseed is done now they actually started playing the intro like that on the SM tour-the longer guitar intro.

Anyway, speaking of Jamie. Anyone with the DVD, go into Special Features and go into "Extra Videos". OLP is playing Our Time is Fading in the background here, but that looks like JAMIE playing rhythm and not Mike E.
i dunno what really happened with him. he was finally announed as an official member of the band (according to olp.cc and other sources) but then decided to leave... he must have not been happy with the direction of the band.

I was thinking that, that he left for the same reasons as Mike. But right after Jamie left I remember Jeremy praising him or something like that, which they didn't do with Mike (I still hope Mike gets a nod in the thank yous of #6). And considering he did most of the work on Gravity, I would think he liked the new stuff.
It was kind of an abrupt departure too, I was wondering if it was something family-oriented.

they just said mike was playing a different style which was contradictory to the direction in which the band wanted to go. they said he is a great guitarist, but c'mon, that's known.
EDIT: i'd also like to know why. there's no reason for it.

Why not? Considering he founded the band, and didn't go out bashing them or the new record at the time, he went quietly, just the way we'd expect him to go. I would think Mike deserves credit from the rest of the guys, considering he is what got the band started. Just a simple thank you. Arnold Lanni got one, I think Mike deserves one.
That and I still hold out hope to see Mike and Steve jamming together one day
I wouldn't count on that happening. Its not like mike helped with the album....at all.
