cuz Raine just wanted to call it that. He never really gave a definitive reason.
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

excellent stuff.

Serious Question For Everyone Here - Is This Not The Best OLP Related Thing Anyone Has Snagged And Shared On The Hub?

I must say, my respect for anyone involved in getting this video is unimaginable. Absolutely incredible job!

This is one hell of a video. I like In Repair a bit more, but still it's incredible!

I've been so excited about this all day. Coolest thing I've ever been involved in (though I didn't do much).

I love this video.

Mixed dark illustrated scenes with stylized footage of the band. This video was intended for release outside of Canada.

Thanks a lot. Awesome video. They really blew a chance there. If they had used In Repair and this one for trying to go worldwide they most likely would have done a lot better than with Somewhere Out There and Innocent. I'm not trying to bash those songs and Gravity but SM fits a lot more into the European music market.

The video wasn't going to be released in Canada. In fact, my "sources" tell me that it was probably going to be released in just Australia. My guess is that they wanted to try to get a more evenly spread fanbase, rather than just a plethora of fans in Canada, and then scattering out from there.

It makes sense that they wouldn't want to release it with the whole Mike leaving thing. Plus, Oli's site says this was made in August 2001, so Gravity was literally right around the corner.

I'd have to say that this video is amazing for two reasons. 1, it's got some amazing work by Oli, and the work in this seems more along the lines of what he does regularily than SM did (SM was a good representation of his work, but his art does have a bit of a dark side to it). 2, the band (particularily Raine) was able to play with the passion that they love to. Remember that Behind the Scenes thing for Innocent where Raine was talking about how he hates directors who make him calm down? Apparently Oli let him let loose.

It's definately drool-tastic.

Thank you soooooooooo much Rob *hugs*
Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.

Yeah that was one thing I definitely noticed with the "Mafia" video compared to others. I think thats one reason why I hated the "Innocent" vid. Raine just didn't gimmie his "vibe".

That is an amazing video. There is so much imagery and so much going on compared to their more recent videos. So are we going to inform the rest of the OLP world about this b/c this could bring more people back to the CM or it could get us in a bit of trouble b/c we arent sure if it is supposed to be released.

But I do want someone to make a new CM banner for the top of the page and also maybe a splash page. Something that says CM, home of the Mafia video, etc... if anyone wants to do that just send it to me on aim..my name is asuburbanman and hopefully i can get nikki to get it up soon. This place needs a little makeover

Sounds fun. I'd say do the banner at the top, but leave out the splash page. And don't advertise this thing. I don't want Oli getting in any shit over this (could be sued for being kind to fans, what a world), and I certainly don't want to be stuck in hot water.

The banner sounds like a good idea. Screaming blurry Raine's overstayed his welcome, methinks. I'd say make a new banner with a screencap from the video, and leave it at that.
