heres my take on it reno
it shouldnt be legal in the first place
strictly from an anatomical standpoint a play of that nature has a high chance to do severe damage to the knee/body
the O-linemen shouldnt just let the dude cream whomever on his team but he shouldnt be able to disable a member of the other team either (in some cases forever)

yes footballs a rough sport
yes i agree that "if you cant take the heat, stay out of the kitchen"
and all that shit
but there has to be a line drawn somewhere
linemen weigh like.. 200-300 lbs
put that much weight/force solely on ONE joint and see how well they last
given that the nfl doesnt have guaranteed contracts, the LEAST they can do is protect the atheletes by having rules to not allow any kind of chop block

no fucking way dude, the chop block rarely ever causes serious injury. in high school we did it all the time, you just have to be aware as a defender. if you keep your head on a swivel, you won't get injured. when you stand around and watch the play, your going to get hurt. it was a chop block from the play side tackle, that means he cannot have anyone behind him making the play. the guy had a chance to make the play, and he was stopped. the lineman did his job and everyone is comming down on him. the defender wasn't doing his job and he got hurt.

i'm not going to shed one tear for the guy who got injured. you have to remember, he's playing a child's sport and getting paid millions for it. he went to school, so that means he should have gotten a degree in something meaningful. if his career is over, then he should have something to fall back on. football shouldn't run that guy's life or anyone else's life for that matter. you run the risk of getting hurt in every play that you are in on.

so i pretty much stayed up one night and followed the draft and thought about posting in this thread... but then old age and senility set in and i forgot
so im posting now
the lions made the right choice taking CJ even tho theyve picked 5 billion WR's over the years
the dolphins are fucking idiots (they wouldve been better off trading down if they really wanted ginn over anyone else but yeah)
and i dont get why so many folks are bitching out the jags for not taking quinn when they have 2 very young (actually 3 but i forget who the 3rd stringer is) and if injury free should be fairly capable qb's on the roster.. plus they needed nelson to replace grant whom they lost to free agency.. and now that me-shawn just cut.. who knows.. maybe he'll end up in jags black, gold and teal? :O
