So ... at work today they had the 2 minutes silence. And at least 2 people had to have it explained to them why it was happening. One initially thought it was for the 30 people who have just been made redundant. Someone managed to convince the other one that it was for Yasser Arafat! And these are people who have lived in the UK or Ireland for at least 28 years each and so should really be aware of what today is!!

Am I stupid for not knowing what today is?

Isn't it Veteran's Day?

We never got off school for it. :(

But when I was at Oxford there were these scary loud cannons they used to fire for the beginning and end of the 2 minutes silence and I never expected them and I used to jump soooooooooooooo high. I'd just have calmed down from the first one when it happened again.

I have such a headache. We are painting our hallways and the fumes are making me sick. :( blah.

If it wasn't so cold out I'd walk somewhere.

Government jobs get the day off here. But since I go to a private school...no can do.

There's a guy in my neighborhood who sets off a canon on News Years Eve, Fourth of July...a bunch of holidays, but I didn't know about it. One time I was at his neighbors dropping off a girl after a party we went to (you know, cool high school parties), and we were just sitting in my car talking. Well, the canon goes off, we both scream. I thought we were being attacked. So scary.

We get school off for Remembrance Day. I was at the legion all morning for the ceremony. All these dudes had medals on. My grandfather had all his medals on and i had about 5 poppies on that i'd picked off the ground :D
