^ That sucks.

If I really like a band, I prefer to go to their shows by myself. I'm really self-conscious about getting into the music while someone is with me.

Hmm.. I've never actually been to a concert by myself. I have an odd feeling that I'd be more self conscious without people I know there.

that's what happened to me. i was uncomfortable and kinda scared when i was all alone at a concert. well, mostly because some big dude had me pressed against the stage and was waving his cigarette at me. then i was saved by a random girl who shoved him away and hung with me for the rest of the show. yay for random concert buddies!

moral: when at a concert alone...hang by a group of people. then other people won't shit with you, because they'll assume you're a part of that group. and i have a feeling that this story has little to no bearing on your situation...*ambles off*

went to finger eleven last night for shits and giggles it was all right... except finger 11 didn't come on till 1130 due to three opening bands, but luckily there was an outside bar, so i didn't have to stand through them... However the walkmen tonight were amazing and the opening band(sound team) was sweet too, nothing like a good old fashion loud rocking concert at the blind pig, with all the synths, and keyboards, but both bands drumers were awesome, even though i couldn't see sound team's drumer he sounded and felt great. I can't wait for the dirtbombs saturday, if i don't go camping.

I'm really only interested in seeing Sloan, Sam Roberts, The Constantines and Pilate... but it'll still be enjoyable.

Jim has no ears, therefore, he thinks Sam Roberts is better than Broken Social Scene.

I don't know if you've ever seen Sammy live, but I think if you did you'd take that one back, Alan.

Mind you we have pretty different tastes in music anyways... meh, I'll just leave it at that.

I saw the Walkmen and Sound Team last night.

Sound Team came on first and left me kind of shocked. I haven't seen a band that I've never heard of before blow me away like that in a long long time, since the Von Bondies back in the day. They had two synth players, a guy on the organ, a guitarist, bassist, and drummer. Their sound was pretty original and they were just a band you could dance to...and that's why every ass in the place stood completely still.

The Walkmen disappointed me. They had lots of energy, which was great, but I think Hamilton was pretty drunk. Apparently he thought it was perfectly acceptable to scream every single one of his fucking songs instead of, oh, I don't know, singing them. The guy has an amazing voice, and he screams all the songs. I never thought it could be possible, but he ruined "The Rat" "Little House Of Savages" and "We've Been Had." He fucking screamed his way through "No Christmas While I'm Talking" and they completely skipped playing "Hang On, Siohban" which is their best song.

They make pretty fucking amazing albums, but give me a break, if you have this amazing voice on your albums, try reproducing it live. No one paid $12 to hear you give up and scream the song, then be a complete dick to me after the show because you wanted another beer. Fucker.

i actually enjoyed the screaming on the rat, no christmas and little house screaming bad, but still enjoyed the energy, didn't mind it on most others with it though, but i didn't have high expectations i just got bows and arrows 2 weeks ago.

Right before the UHMU I saw Sam Roberts. It was another great show. And his Dad was standing right next to me doing a bit of Dad dancing. But it was his birthday and he'd come all the way from Canada and it was fun to watch.

While I was away I got a ticket to see Dogs Die In Hot Cars at the Barfly which is a teeny venue in London (200 people, and where I saw Sam Roberts for the first time). That should be lots of fun :D

My next concert will hopefully be Sarah Slean in September. Not sure yet, my parents need convincing since I have to go alone by train and that freaks them out. So I hope I can drag some people with me.

In October I'm going to see Maroon 5 and in November Saga :D
