im not really into the "propsed" album names... im sure they can think of something better. and they will... those are just to cause a stir on here and other OLP chat places. OLP fans around the world are now talking about the album name... and thats exactly what they want, speculation

I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

holy shit a new era approaches
Queens Of The Stone Age-Someone's In The Wolf
Once you're lost in twillights's blue
You don't find your way, the way finds you...
Tempt the fates, beware the smile
It hides all the teeth, my dear,
What's behind them...
So glad you could stay
Forever
He steps between the trees, a crooked man
There's blood on the blade
Don't take his hand
You warm by the firelight, in twilight's blue
Shadows creep & dance the walls
He's creeping too..
So glad you could stay
Forever

Yeah.
But also take into account that people also have heard "Vampires" and the redone "Not Afraid" and have their opinions based on that.
Odds are, if the songs sound like those two, someone like Rob wouldn't buy it anyway. It could have the coolest fucking name ever, but the songs will still sound the same.

I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

WELL IT'S TRUE! and i din't know it was you who said it...i just knew that SOMEONE said it
i cant believe that someone whould choose not to buy the cd just because of the album title. especially someone who is so fond of the ban that they actually joined an online community for the band...

Rob not only joined, he owned the community for a while. Thats much more dedication then you can claim. Besides that, just because you joined a message board doesn't mean that you are commited to the band for life. People change. The band changed, the community changed. Just because you still post here doesn't mean you are here for the reason you came in the first place.
I also have to say that a lot of people are claiming unimportance to the title of the cd. Which, is sort of valid I guess. I mean if I just said a completly random title of a random cd by any band in the world, it would be unfair to judge that album since you are so uninformed. But we arn't. We are the people that saw this band at the best and worst of times, and we are probably more educated on this area then anyone else. After hearing a large amount of work from this band from the beginning until now, I think we are very able to make an assumption on the new album, espically concidering the circumstances in which we have heard material from said album. If anything I think we are absolutely in a position to make a judgement on the title of the cd. Combining the theoretical titles with the possible tracks, the fans are some of the few people that are able to extrapolate the outcome of the album before we have heard a final product. So maybe we can't judge a book by its cover, but I think we can judge a cd by its title.

Goodbye you liar,
Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire
Take apart your head
(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.

It doesn't matter if it's called "Vampires" or not. It's still going to be maybe 1/4 as good as what they could come up with.
I've heard the new songs, and they're unimpressive. The lyrics seems just uninspired and boring. The production seems like they had a small budget and just ran into a studio and recorded in a few hours (I'm referring mostly to Gravity, so don't be stupid and tell me Vampires was a demo, because I know that.) The music just is boring.
The band seems like they're falling into the odd world between pop crap and garage rock, and just comes out as poorly recorded music with half-assed lyrics. The days when they would actually go into a recording studio with the goal to record the best possible guitar riff for a song, or make sure the bass line was dead on, or the drums were erratic, but fits the rhythm of the song. Everything has been compromised.
And to bring it back on topic, the titles of all their cds have been steps into songs or influences on their albums. Naveed, Clumsy, and Happiness and the Fish were great songs, and the titles came from those songs. The book Spiritual Machines influenced almost every song on that album, except for a song like Life, arguably the worst track on that album. Then Gravity came out, with its reference coming from Somewhere Out There, a song most jaded fans see as the start of the decline of OLP. And we know the opinions of Gravity from people on this board.
So now that we've heard Vampires, and the fact that they want to name the album the same as the track, it personally scares me, due to trends. The song the album title came from usually indicates how the album will go, and if Vampires is the best thing they can come up with and put forward, then why listen?
Anyways, Vampires is a fucking embarassing title for a cd, especially for someone to carry around and buy. I wouldn't want to hold something like that.

Random Name,
Just read what I was referring to again. You arguement is in left field.........
Yeah, I'm sure you guys know the band well......yes, i do too.....cool eh.
So why are you making this an arguement about how well we know the band when really it wasn't part of the arguement, or relevant to my point?
"it better not be called vampires or i will def. not buy the album because that is just pathetic. The other title is pretty cool though."
That's what was said........he obviously might have more to add, but since he didn't, it seemed like a pretty lousy thing to say for being such a "longtime fan"...........its weird that your slightly elitist attitude gives you free reign on what's what. Rob may have heard all the stuff and applied it in his judgement, but he never mentioned that.........he just referred to one single solitary point as his basis. I guess it was just thoughtless and not pathetic. My mistake.

I completely agree. I could have said the same thing and been trashed for such a shallow remark, but since he owned the board and is a longtime fan it's an OK thing to say?
Really, owning the board and disliking Gravity doesn't add validity to a completely empty statement.
