Yeah, but I'd only commit to him with a bonus-driven contract. I really really hope we get Selanne/Kariya.

if the game does open up like they are saying then Kariya and Selanne would kill teams with their speed and puck handling skill

I think that may have been what inspired Forseberg to stay in North America for a few more years.

Reason #284 why Detoirt needs to get Datsyuk signed.

Chris Chellios just took less than a million to stay in Detroit.
Good to see he's now being greedy.

Certainly carries veteran status but may be turning into Old and Busted.
Hopefully a years rest has healed old wounds.

I would love to see Selanne and Kariya in Toronto. I agree that the elimination of the red line would be AMAZINg for them. Allison would be amazing too. Could you imagine the First line being Kariya, Sundin, Sleanne... wow. Lindros is questionable. I would hope the Leafs perform an intense physical on that man. He could be one hit away to reitrement... Or he could be intrinsicly and kick ass...

Ugh First I read the McCarty news now this:
Turns out with the firing of Dave Lewis so goes Joey Kocur as an assitant coach.

There goes our "Extra Attacker"
Now who's going to throw chairs out on the ice?

Although it's reported he may still stay on the staff as a "Video Anyalyst"
Maybe that means we'll see video monitors thrown out on the ice

Man the teams in Western Canada are looking good. Vancouver re-upping with Naslund is huge. They'll probably pick up one more UFA before all is said and done.

The Oilers grabbing Pronger and Peca was impressive too. Yes, they gave up a lot in Brewer, York and the prospects, but they are a better team than they were on August 1. They still need a real goaltender.

And of course my Flames grabbing Amonte and McCarty. How good will Amonte look on the 1st line. Think about how good Iginla was while he was playing with 3rd liner's on the first line. Now he's got two legit offensive players to work with. Look out! Gotta get Kiprusoff under contract though...

As for the Maple Leafs. Well, it isn't looking pretty. It looks like all those years of throwing away cash in ridiculous contracts (see Eddie Belfour) have finally caught up to them. Ferguson Jr. certainly has his work cut out for him to actually build a team this time around, not buy one. He did a good job with getting O'Neill for so cheap, but 1.25/year to Domi? Brutal. They need to spend that money elsewhere

It's so weird to see all the small market teams (Edmonton, Columbus, Atlanta) are grabbing UFA's and the big teams struggling. Craziness...

no its good
its the best way to actually sell the game and attempt to fix the mistakes that bettman made in bringing franchises to some of the markets theyre now in

i cant remember what show i was watching, but they brought up the Selanne Karyia thing

i cant see any of it happening tho, i bet they head west

i've also heard of a Toronto, Boston, Chicago trade

Chicago - Belfour
Boston - Daze
Toronto - Thornton

i dont know how much truth their is to that but i guess i could see it happening, knowing Thornton isnt happy in Boston, Chicago needs some sort of goalie (no matter how old i guess), and Daze would fit well in Boston i think

than again there has been so many rumours over the last while

its sucks, is it the fault of teams like Toronto, Detroit, Philly, and all other money making teams that shit hockey markets got teams where nobody cares anyways? you know who pays for guys like Foote to be with the blue jackets, fans for teams like Toronto and Detroit
since the top money making teams pay money to the bottom teams, so the cities with teams that people actually support and love hockey get screwed because they are making money

anyways, point of the story
bettman is a douche. hockey just doesnt belong some places.
also, bettman is a huge douche.

why would the hawks do that when they can sign khabi and are actively going after him?
plus boston gets really fleeced in all of this
daze for thornton?!
they wouldnt do that

i agree
some of those markets shouldnt have teams
but guys like holik should never have been making that kinda money to begin with
if teams like NY and the leafs, etc werent throwing money at any player with a pulse then the league (regardless of how many teams are in it) would be hell of a lot better off then it is now
