No. Look, there's lots of people here with maybe 100 posts that don't like the new stuff either, and they could have said the same thing and had the same, valid point.

I never owned the board, been a mod, or did anything but post here, and my point is just as valid as yours or Rob's.

Here's what it comes down to. New music = shit. Vampires as a cd title = shit. That's all there is. There's your validity.

actually thats what I was refering to, and my point wasn't that you have a valid opinion if you post count is high. What I was saying was that not everyone here is going to follow OLP blindly anymore because we have changed in our musical tastes. Being posters on the board, we obviously were fans at one point, but that doesn't mean our tastes can't change. If someone doesn't like OLP any more that doesn't mean they are going to be forced to leave the board or anything.

And yeah, I agree with Alan. In the past, the title track to OLP's albums has been either the best or the best representation of the album. If the title of this new CD is going to be a bad metaphor, its not likely that the rest of the album is going to get any better.

You still haven't made one good defence for your arguement......what you are talking about is all background static to me. I have no problems with people having changing musical tastes and opinions about it. For longtime fans you sound like jaded monkeys sometimes and it totally lacks respect....calling a band you once loved "shit" in so many respects. Again, sorry guys, but its pathetic.

Well, I also once loved Aqua and Prozak. Does that mean I still have to love them now?

No, but you shouldn't come on to a community based fanboard and call their work shit under the guise of a fan. You can criticize it all you want, just do it with a coherent arguement. Calling it "shit" doesn't really give you any credibility.....its worse than the noobs who know nothing because you should actually know better and have some respect for their previous work.

I am not going to get into this arugment. It doesn't matter what I think. It isn't relevent to OLP's music.

The only thing I will say is we have no idea what OLP are thinking, or going through. We don't know why their music is heading in the direction it is.

Assume all you want, but just because you think it is crappy doesn't mean the band does. They may think this is their best work.

The only people who can say they are doing the things they are and why is OLP.

I feel love, I feel a power. It comes to me in the darkest hour. And I want to feel it again

I gave you a coherent argument you jackass. You chose to ignore it and attack someone else. The only time you recognize what I say is when you can find a fault in it and bitch about it. Wow, I said the song was shit because I didn't have time to go in-depth about it because some of us here are old enough to have jobs.

Actually, most people have expressed in detail why they dislike the new material, maybe you just haven't bothered to read it.

And if you are serious in asking what musical taste has to do with music then you have serious issues.

So why do you act like you have the intellect of a 7-year-old?

That would be a really good comeback if Alan didn't write well.

 That's too much.

I think buddy over here's been following OLP for too long. Simplifying things for everyone so that way no one feels alienated and hurt. It's oftly nice of you, but I really don't think you're that much superior than us that we aren't going to understand your ever-so sophisticated posts.

Just my opinion, and I think I could speak for Alan on this one too...

The Other Matt wrote:Random Name,

Just read what I was referring to again. You arguement is in left field.........

Yeah, I'm sure you guys know the band well......yes, i do too.....cool eh.

So why are you making this an arguement about how well we know the band when really it wasn't part of the arguement, or relevant to my point?

"it better not be called vampires or i will def. not buy the album because that is just pathetic. The other title is pretty cool though."

That's what was said........he obviously might have more to add, but since he didn't, it seemed like a pretty lousy thing to say for being such a "longtime fan"...........its weird that your slightly elitist attitude gives you free reign on what's what. Rob may have heard all the stuff and applied it in his judgement, but he never mentioned that.........he just referred to one single solitary point as his basis. I guess it was just thoughtless and not pathetic. My mistake.

So about that more to add...I havent read this topic in a while so it took a while to get around to it. I think that Vampires is a utterly absurd title to a bad metaphor reference in the song. I may not buy not only due to the title being Vampires but an album title sums up a lot. I have the right just as much as anyone else to say the album is heading in a bad direction. I didnt mean my statement to be some analytic arguement that goes in circles. I simply said I disliked the album title.

Now onto this whole me having an elitist attitude. I have never had one (except for maybe with Alan but that was a different matter most of the time). I think that we (myself, kimmy and jacqui) did a good job keeping this community for the fans for a year and keeping it going unlike the CC. If you want to knock the money I spent making sure you could come here and post everyday then do me a favor and leave. I didnt see you offering to help pay for the site. Perhaps the logic behind me getting rid of the board is because the passion wasn't there but that does not mean I am going to put OLP down. Then again who are you to care if I put OLP down since I have spent lots of money on the band just like you all have which includes 9 concerts. We have always provided you with songs, videos and a place to speak your mind and you shouldnt be afraid to do so. The only thing attacking someone who has spent so much time making this place good is bullshit frankly.

Now I dont think this topic should be locked because there are always going to be differences and the more we hide it then it will just occur over and over. Go to any site and you will realize it takes a while to become a "member" of the community but it doesnt mean your opinion matters less. I hate to say it but OLP are losing many longtime fans and it is just the way it goes with bands. I tend not to post here much but I just had to share my opinion on the suggested album titles.

In the end personal attacks are not cool and this thread is becoming full of them. If they cant be resolved then we will have to lock it again and keep locking threads until the end of time. People may have opinions that are well formed and some may suck like mine but I put my opinions plain and simple and dont cover it up with bullshit. So yea rock on in the free world and all that good stuff

Hey areusad,

I agree with some of your points, and maybe it would be best to do this over private message after this so things can be settled....everyone likes to talk shit when its public and it makes tough to actually solve anything

Secondly, your right to your opinion is fine.........I don't have a problem with that, but I did have a problem with your comment as you well know. I thought it was insulting as you posted on this board when I hardly think you would say that to Raine's face. Your friend tried to back up the explanation with futility since it didn't undo or change any perspective I had that might have made it more tolerable, nor did mean anything really, since I wasn't questioning it. It would have been easy to let it go, but I think I as at a point where I was frustrated with certain attitudes that expressed a certain disrespect to the band that you may have found me making to your board. I'm not here to be an idiot and exchange personal attacks.........I did call your statement "pathetic" and "thoughtless" and I stand by it. I know you like the band but are upset with the direction. That's fine.......all I ask is for a little maturity and less bitching about it being "shit" because for one of the board moderators it seems really childish. I guess you proved my point that you are an elitist, because you have put a lot of time into this site, and act like you can say whatever you want without anyone challenging its' lack of respect. I never questioned the part about you doing great work on the site. Is running this board an excuse to say whatever??

Regarding money however, it is very nice of you to do that, and if I ever knew it cost you money I may have contributed because i do appreciate the access to information and songs. Of course, I never knew this, so its quite difficult for me to contribute anything.

THis will be my last post in this thread. If you want to reach me just PM.
