elliott smith - i didnt understand

I waited for a bus to separate the both of us
and take me off far away from you
cos my feelings never change a bit,
I always feel like shit, i dont know why
I guess that I "just do"
You once talked to me about love
and you painted pictures of a never-neverland
and I couldve gone to that place
but I didnt understand
I didnt understand
I didnt understand
turn your head
come back again
to here knows when

brett has gotten me obsessed w/ this song

death cab for cutie - "Champagne From A Paper Cup"

I think i'm drunk enough to drive you home now
I'll keep my mouth kept shut from under lock and key
That's rusted firm, no lie
'cause all these conversations wind on and on...
Drinking champagne from a paper cup
Is never quite the same
And every sip's moving through my eyes
And up into my brain
At half past two; about time to leave
'cause the dj's playing rhythm and blues
A sad-sorry state, stutter step to those slammin' grooves
As i'm waiting around for you...
turn your head
come back again
to here knows when

You may tire of me as our December sun is setting because I'm not who I used to be
No longer easy on the eyes but these wrinkles masterfully disguise
The youthful boy below who turned your way and saw
Something he was not looking for: both a beginning and an end
But now he lives inside someone he does not recognize
When he catches his reflection on accident

On the back of a motor bike
With your arms outstretched trying to take flight
Leaving everything behind
But even at our swiftest speed we couldn't break from the concrete
In the city where we still reside.
And I have learned that even landlocked lovers yearn for the sea like navy men
Cause now we say goodnight from our own separate sides
Like brothers on a hotel bed
Like brothers on a hotel bed
Like brothers on a hotel bed
Like brothers on a hotel bed

Leaving the central state from shallow ground
home in the valley but the rent's paid south
you said the urn was half full when I said it was half empty
with what was left of our fair city

call in the army corps of architects
to flatten the skyline and begin again
I knew the years would move quickly,
but never quite as fast as this
so bring the discrepancies, I'll pour the drinks.

Hands Down - Dashboard confessional

Hands down this is the best day I can ever remember,
I'll always remember the sound of the stereo,
the dim of the soft lights,
the scent of your hair that you twirled in your fingers
and the time on the clock when we realized it's so late
and this walk that we shared together.
The streets were wet
and the gate was locked so I jumped it,
and I let you in.
And you stood at your door with your hands on my waist
and you kissed me like you meant it.
And I knew that you meant it

^i flippin love that song

Can you tell I'm faking it?
But I want to be myself
A counterfeit disposition
Can't be good for my health

So many different faces
Depending on the different phases
My personality changes
I'm a chameleon

There's more then one dimension
I can fool you and attract attention
Camouflage my nature
Let me demonstrate

Makeup's all off
Who am I?
Magic's in the makeup
Who am I?

If you bore me then I'm comfortable
If you interest me I'm scared
My attraction paralyses me
No courage to show my true colors that exist

But I want to be the real thing
But if you catch my eye can't be authentic
The ones I loath are the ones
That know me the best

My makeup's all off
Who am I?
The magic's in the makeup
Who am I?

The makeup's all off
Who am I?
If the magic's in the make up
Then who am I?

Magic's in the makeup
But I want to be the real thing
But the magic's in the makeup
And I want to be the real thing

My makeup's all off
Who am I?

No Doubt- Magic's In The Makeup
you have to, you just have to trust me
whoever i was then i can't ever be again
the faith you've found i've never felt
the terror held in wedding bells
the comfort in "there's no one else"
the truth be told, i'm never going to know

Alone on a train aimless in wonder
An outdated map crumbled in my pocket
But I didn't care where I was going
'Cause they're all different names for the same place.

The coast disappeared when the sea drowned the sun
And I knew no words to share it with anyone
The boundaries of language I quietly cursed
And all the different names for the same thing.
"if the nuremberg trials were applied to us foreign policy, every us president since 1945 would have been hanged." noam chomsky.

...and this is me hanging on / i'd burn our initials in the sun if it would shine / anxiety chokes me like razor wire / if hate's in your heart man, you'll take what you're given / wake up / i'm not the only one / it's never goodbye / go ahead and play dead / if everyone's a casualty, then take your time, there ain't no trouble / these wounds they will not heal / ambition can be a tricky thing / what the hell do i know about rape anyway? / this is not what i hoped for / ain't it so weird how it makes you a weapon / who will be there to tell me how stupid i am? / those living for death will die by their own hand / and it's me that I am spying on / pick up the pieces and live with the stars / hurry up and wait / things have never been so swell / they're always the ones who slowly drift / be great / ...and this is my world.

There's blood in my mouth 'cause I've been biting my tongue all week
I keep on talkin' trash but I never say anything
And the talkin' leads to touchin'
and the touchin' leads to sex
and then there is no mystery left

And it's bad news
Baby I'm bad news
I'm just bad news, bad news, bad news

I know I'm alone if I'm with or without you
but just bein' around you offers me another form of relief
When the lonliness leads to bad dreams
and the bad dreams lead me to callin' you
and I call you and say "C'MERE!"

And it's bad news
Baby I'm bad news
I'm just bad news, bad news, bad news

And it's bad news
Baby it's bad news
It's just bad news, bad news, bad news

'Cause you're just damage control
for a walking corpse like me - like you

'Cause we'll all be
Portions for foxes
Yeah we'll all be
Portions for foxes

There's a pretty young thing in front of you
and she's real pretty and she's real into you
and then she's sleepin' inside of you
and the talkin' leads to touchin'
and the touchin' leads to sex
and then there is no mystery left

And it's bad news
I don't blame you
I do the same thing
I get lonely too

And you're bad news
My friends tell me to leave you
That you're bad news, bad news, bad news

You're bad news
Baby you're bad news
and you're bad news
Baby you're bad news
and you're bad news
I don't care I like you
and you're bad news
I don't care I like you
I like you

i post too much in this thread.

Jeff Buckley - Eternal Life

Eternal life is now on my trail
Got my red glitter coffin, man, just need one last nail
All you ugly gentlemen play out their foolish games
There's a flaming red horizon that screams God's name

And as your fantasies are broken in two
Did you really think this bloody road would
Pave the way for you?
You better turn around
And blow your kiss hello to life eternal, angel

Racist everyman, what have you done?
Man, you've made a prisoner of your unborn son
And I've got my feet put at the point of a gun
When all i want to do is love everyone

There's no time for hatred, only questions
What is love, what is happiness, what is life, what is peace?
When will I find the strength to bring me release?
And tell me where is the love in what your prophet has said?
Well it seems to me it's like a prison for the working man
And I've got my feet upon your twisted hell
You better turn around
And blow your kiss hello to life eternal, angel
turn your head
come back again
to here knows when

Suburbia - Matt Good

You will come back within yourself
you can be art when we melt
and i will know what you were for
i say we're leaving
there ain't nothing here at all
another day, a week, the mall
and baby if I was in demand
you would be mine

some day this place is going to burn
is your whole life in there waiting?
some day your head is going to turn and you'll realize
I'm missing, do you realize?

you will come back
convince yourself you can stay alive
and wait for me
and i will know what this was for
and I'll say we're leaving
there ain't nothing here at all
another month, a year that's all
so you can tell them I'm coming
and hell's coming with me

someday this place is going to burn
is your whole life in the waiting
someday their heads are going to turn and they'll realize
you're missing
we are there
Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.

I really love this verse from Brand New's "Play Crack the Sky"

Your tongue is a rudder.
It steers the whole ship.
Sends your words past your lips
Or keeps them safe behind your teeth.
But the wrong words will strand you.
Come off course while you sleep.
Sweep your boat out to sea
Or dashed it to bits on the reef.
~Hannah

Let the bare feet be the last sounds that they hear...

Matt Good - The Fine Art of Falling Apart:

I walk alone and I
I ride alone and I
I rock myself to sleep
Baby, there ain't enough room in this world
For people like you
And horrors like me

A time of darkness
There lived a girl in a cave in the woods
Disguised as a bee
At night she would fly into the city
Sting the cause
And sting the cost
And she would hover over me
Whispering
We're surfacing
We're surfacing
We're surfacing

I stand alone and I
I fight alone and I
Stay clean by feeling cheap
And baby, there ain't enough room in this world
For perfections like you
And monsters like me

A time of darkness
You will look absurd and you will feel inert
And you will go looking to blame somebody
You see I used to think that I'd get over everything
But everything just got over me

I'm certain of it
I'm certain of it
I'm certain of it
I'm certain of it

I walk alone and I
I ride alone and you know
That's all right by me
See baby cause
There ain't enough room in this world
For a great, great many things

Rheostatics ~ Record Body Count

Joey pulled himself to his feet,
hauled his body back up the bank,
and looked back down there.
He said the water was not that deep,
but I almost drowned there.
You can drown in a bathtub,
so they say.

Someone in class called me a loser,
so I decided to skip the day.
I tried to look casual sneaking around the back,
past the shotput, across the track,
and to the gate beside the portables.
But red tie and school-grey slacks
doesn't blend in with the grass
as the teacher was changing class.

He chased me halfway through the park,
until I ran into the woods-
and I'm very good in the woods.
So I was an Indian,
I built a fire by the creek,
and dried my eyes there.

There's a record body count this year.

Joey stepped up on a block of ice,
with a rope around his neck,
and fell asleep before he died.

Rheostatics ~ The Royal Albert (Joey 2)

Joey died in his room last night,
they took him down in a shit-splattered elevator.
Ended up in the hallway this morning,
I must have been wasted happy.

Sometimes I get so down
That I soil my big, big, big, big, suit.

Mold it grows from one cell to the next
'til it forms these rings on the ceilings,
the ones that I stare at when the sirens come by
every evening at a quarter to seven.

I didn't read that before I copied from whatever site I stole it from, so I didn't realise it was wrong :( I do sing the correct words when i sing along though.

Yay for a Pleasurable Headache.

oh, and Robbo you missed the dodgy apostrophe in there - I'm disappointed in you.

more matt good.

Prime Time Deliverance

The red red lips
Of some secret solution
The Central Intelligence Agency
Has a file that's a mile longer than peace
She's naked on the phone
Watching them back
No eyes just their stupid grins
They long to be liberal mannequins
And in their tiny room
They eat Chinese food
And they don't call their wives
Cause the girl in the window is
Pressing her breasts
Up against the window pane
The guy they're after
On the floor below her
Is cutting cocaine
Higher than the building

A one way trip
Who ever thought she'd miss
The ins and outs of oxygen
The darkest side of the biggest God damn ride
You've ever been on
Her mother loves that show
Even though she never gets the answers right
It's easier to play along
Sometimes more than being wrong
They found her in her room
Wearing a pink bunny suit
In sour cherry lipstick
Hanging from the closet door
Her eyes were wide maybe to despise
Maybe just to look into your head light
Morning glow
