I love that song! I've been listening to Paramore a lot over since Brand New Eyes came out and I'm really enjoying. I wasn't much of a Paramore fan before.

yeah, i'm not that big on them, but i'm really enjoying this song. very pretty :)

Muse johnny! i'm not a big fan of them either....

do i need my head read? my friends think i'm a bit of a loser for not liking Muse...

Yeah, I'm a big fan.

And no, you're not mental for not liking them. they're not for everyone!

“Music doesn’t have the power to change the world. What music does is it changes people, & that changes the world, so to say that music doesn’t change people anymore is just ridiculous. It’s making it a better place.” ~ Raine Maida

I know I'm about 15 years behind everyone else on this, but holy crap I'm listening to Radiohead (the Bends, just moved on to OK Computer) for the first time and they're so good :O And I hear so many of the bands I love in this CD, it's ridiculous.

So, there you have it. I just discovered the least-hidden band on the planet.
I just wanna get out,

Congrats man! You're definitely not the last to discover them. I lived under a rock (musically and pop culturally) most of my life, but I found Radiohead early and still have converted at least 3 other people into fans. They're not the most popular band in the US, but they just might be the most popular band in the US that you haven't been exposed to and forced to like through media saturation.

Did you start with Pablo Honey? A lot of people don't like it, but I suggest going back and listening to that soon. Then maybe give it a few days or a couple weeks to absorb those 3 albums, then try out Kid A.

Have you had any exposure to Radiohead before? They don't get played a lot on the radio where I live (aside from Creep), but I think they turn up a bit more frequently in soundtracks.

When you're ready for it, I can hook you up with a ton of stuff from them:
b-sides
demos / alternate versions of songs
live versions of unreleased songs
covers of other artists that they've played
experimental pieces
side projects and collaborations

Honestly Radiohead's the only band I know that releases B-sides that are consistently good enough that they might as well be on an album.

No, I haven't done Pablo Honey yet. Like you said, a lot of folks told me just to skip straight to the Bends. But I'll take your advice once I've settled into OK Computer some more and go back and give it a few listens.

My exposure has been fairly limited. I know Creep, of course, and a long time ago Jen (of the afealicious variety) sent me My Iron Lung, which I actually liked at the time but for some reason didn't dig further into. And I'm just now finding out that Jonny Greenwood did the soundtrack for There Will Be Blood, which is pretty awesome.

I actually downloaded the Bends special edition, with all those bonus tracks, but I'm holding off on listening to them for now to focus on the albums themselves. But yeah, I'll definitely let you know when I'm ready to move into the deeper part of their catalog :D this is also just about the best phase of discovering a new band. Lots of music to come.

Cool! I bought all their albums and UK singles before the special edition CDs came out. I always forget about those, but they include just about all of the b-sides as well as some remixes and live tracks.

Jonny is more classically trained than a lot of musicians in rock. He did the score for a documentary called Bodysong, as well as There Will Be Blood as you mentioned (I haven't heard that one yet -- going to get it soon though), and I think an upcoming film called Norwegian Wood. He is also the "composer in residence" for the BBC Concert Orchestra and has written a handful of pieces for them. And of course he writes the string arrangements for Radiohead music as well. That will become a lot more impressive for you soon!
