I don't see how letting people have a controlled freedom twice a year really affects the CM as a whole though. It's so minor that it doesn't inconvenience anyone...

yeah, I have no problem with the twice a year thing. I'm just trying to think of a way to have the same level of freedom to change usernames without having to waiting for the official "change" period.

Easy solution...

People ask mods/admins (whoever is capable of doing it) to change their names.
At the same time they can post to let everyone know that they have undergone a name change in this very section of the CM since it's rarely used anyways. That way people are two clicks away from knowing who someone is. Considering what little time it takes to go to a thread, I don't see how people couldn't go up to this section and read if someone changes their name.

At the same time, restrict it to once every X months. That way people don't abuse the system. If someone decides to be an ass about not letting people know about their name change afterwards, simply change it back to what it was.
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

I like the changes allowed for a week in January + July idea because it's less work for the administrators... that way, we don't have to check when the last time someone changed it and we don't have to look them up in the administrator's control panel and change their name.

pfft you think i read anyone elses ideas? Clearly you used your modding powers to go back and change your mediocre idea to make it look like you came up with such an awesome idea. Admit it!

Yeah the admins shouldn't have to handle it. (I think you or matt or someone said this one a previous page)

Sure it might kind of suck to wait 6 months to change your name, but if you want to change it that badly, I'm sure you could ask an admin, granted if they say no, then you get your name changed to "Ernest Borgnine" permanently.

Yeah, but that name would be way cooler than anyone elses. Why reward them?
