I seem to remember a decision was taken a while ago to stop that happening. All us old people with poor memories just couldn't cope with the stress of people changing their usernames :(
Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.

Yeah, it happened a while ago. One cm'er keep changing their username and it annoyed The Boss, so he disengaged the option.

Too bad theres now way to enable it, again, but moderate it so that you can only change it every so often.

Know what I mean?

What I've thought about doing is once every quarter allowing a week for everyone to change their username if they like, and then turning that feature off at the end of the week. There could also be a thread where you tell what you are changing your username to, so everyone won't be quite as confused. That way if you don't like your current username you aren't stuck with it for an entire year, just 4 months? Does that sound ok to everyone?

hahaha, it would be confusing for anyone who's not here that week.

I don't really mind either way since I have no intention to change mine. :D

Every now and then I fall out into open air just to feel the wind, rain and everything.
And though the hum and sway gets me down
, I'll find the way to peace and openness.
