Interesting...not sure what to think of this one. Raine's vocals are definitely nowhere near Are You Sad's on that sequel, no falsetto, but maybe he's using opposite vocals on purpose?

And the chorus is pretty simplistic and a little too much repetition for me. I think this is the most repetition ...

I dunno man, I wouldn't call this type of music "mainstream" anymore. Maybe in 2002, even 2009. But now this type of music is far from mainstream 2020s music.

The song represents so many things, the best of which is an ethereal, beautiful piece of musical art.

Agree about the production - top notch.

And I'm glad they dropped the whole philosophy of doing a "stripped down live-type rock record" and went back to layered stuff. Much more fitting and complimentary to their style. Steve can do some great solos but it was never what made OLP great.

Thoughts?? I actually liked it more than I thought I would. When Raine is yelling "stop" near the end it reminds me of his old school paranoid falsetto yelps.

True... and as I said I wouldn't have minded a Gravity era vocal, although maybe that's just as difficult. But to me it just seems shoddy in execution, period. Sounds like a rough draft rather than a final version.

Thoughts on "Spiritual Machines Acoustic Live"? I love the ethereal feel, the atmosphere of the music, the production of the instrumental track... but I gotta say Raine's frankly shoddy vocal work almost ruins the songs for me. Maybe I'm being harsh, but it feels like he's either not trying or has ...

Holy fuck, this Not Afraid demo is amazing. It's incredibly depressing how much they polished and "de-OLPized" this song throughout production.
