Do You Count Bootlegs As Part Of Your CD Collection?

A lot of people have told me that burnt CDs and bootlegs do not count as CDs in your collection. I don't agree, because they are still a collection of songs that you can listen to back to back on a CD. What does everyone else think?

Well for me I don't call my collection a CD collection, I call it an album collection. So really a burnt cd, even if it's a copy of an album, doesn't count for me. But I don't think it really matters.

I don't count them unless I paid for them. Meaning... the ones I have from back when the only way to get a bootleg was to buy it in a store for like $50. Heh. Course, those aren't typically burned cds, they're professionally printed on a bootleg label.
If you've burned a cd that you've downloaded, you don't "own" it anyway. You stole it.

True bootlegs, like the kind that are actually pressed on vinyl or a silver CD, I would count. Your average live recording, though, I would not.

i count my music collection by song. and i don't count the things i don't listen to.
(my point being bootlegs count as a part of the collection if i listen to them)

i don't because i don't really pay for the stuff i download and with my logiC (or lack of) you have to pay for a CD to count it towards your CD collection.

I have never come across any situation where I needed to know the amount of CD's I own. Ever.
So...why does it matter?

Hey, you never know when you're gonna be held at gunpoint by someone wanting nothing more than to know how many cds you own...

Well, for that purpose you would want to count any live recordings.
Unless you don't care if you lose them.

Someday I've gotta catalogue all my cds on a spreadsheet. I've got all my Oasis, Silverchair, and OLP ones catalogued, but nothing else.

no, because all of my live recordings are off of the hub, so i can just get them if i lose them, i don't even have that many live recordings, only one entire concert...the rest of my live tracks are a part of a mix.

how many people actually know what they own.?. I know I just keep all the same bands together. I use to have my albums in order by favorite bands(earliest releasre to latest) then by solo male, female, dance, punk, metal etc. I just keep then that way..
as for cd's I have all my olp's ones in one box in order of release and I do count bootlegs.
I own way too many things.. I have to find out if there is anyway to get records uploaded to a computer..
