What is wrong with this woman?!

Woman Charged With Having Sex With 8-Year-Old 'Boyfriend'

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A woman faces charges of having a sexual relationship with an 8-year-old boy whom investigators said she considers her boyfriend.

Tammy Imre, 29, was arrested Friday and charged with sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. A judge set bond at $250,000 Monday.

Police began investigating in September after the boy's mother discovered a letter Imre had written him, in which she tells the boy she doesn't "want anyone but you."

She continued: "Now tomorrow it's supposed to rain, you can come over we can (you know what)."

Police said the boy, the playmate of Imre's 7-year-old daughter, initially denied doing anything with Imre because he feared getting into trouble. He later admitted having sexual relations with her.

Police said Imre told investigators she plans to marry the boy someday.

If convicted, Imre could serve more than 20 years in prison. A trial date has not been set.

Whenever stuff like this happens I always think of the song "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds... here's an excerpt (sp?) from the song...

What if I'd been born fifty years before you
In a house on a street where you lived?
Maybe I'd be outside as you passed on your bike
Would I know?

It's basically a song about soulmates. The thing is that if you believe in soulmates you have to believe that your soulmate might not be the same age as you. Not trying to defend the lady, but when you think about things in that way it really makes you wonder.

Yeah, that's totally true... but you've gotta wait til that "soul mate" is old enough to... NOT BE AN EIGHT YEAR OLD.

Holy crap that's young.

I didn't even think it was possible for a boy that young to... uhh... hmm, I'm gonna stop right there before I feel like a perve for typing it out.

don't worry it's strictly involuntary :P

as for the soulmate argument, i agree only if the person is of legal age to give consent. How do you even know he's yur soulmate if he's 8? you can't possibly know anything about the person he will be.

I know, it's hard to say, but I mean if you believe in soulmates sometimes it makes you wonder whether these people just know.

I don't approve of it at all obviously, and agree that the elder should wait until the child is at the age of consent, but I mean when it look at it from this perspective it's a very interesting idea (as sick as it may seem)

A child doesn't "just know" at that age, they still have a lot of developing left. Not only that, but they don't understand the whole "being in love" yet. At 8, you're really really naive and have a whole world of knowledge and emotions to learn.

At 8, I thought that girls had cooties. Come to think of it.. I still believe it.

I mean from the other person's perspective. Of course a child doesn't know.

Yeah of course from the other person's perspective, but they have no right to influence the child's growth or path in life because of their belief.
