"Imagine" cover

I saw something disturbing on Much this morning.
Someone (I don't know who, and am too lazy to look it up) has released a cover of Imagine.
And it blows.
They've made it all dark and angryish.
And they (of course) made the video anti-Bush.
What a fucking waste.
Imagine is a song of hope - not an angsty whiney protest song. I know it is originally a protest song, but not in the same range as today's bitchy protest songs.
I very much do not like this cover.

It's by A Perfect Circle, if I remeber correctly.
I kinda like it.
The mood and video are completely irrelevent to the song itself, but it's neat all the same.

It's APC, yah.
They just came out w/ an entire album of political cover songs; I haven't listened to it yet but umm... I don't really want to.

I saw Rob's post, and i totally wanted to rip you apart.
but alas, it's your opinion, and probably many other's, too.
i'll just simply say that i absolutely adore this song (and actually, APC, too.

)
i... only saw a bit of the video, so i can't really say much on that.

duh. I don't like a perfect circle.
I liked it when OLP did Imagine though. they didn't make it all bitchy.

i loved the cover of the song and the video. music is a product of the times and this video certainly is.
When you make music (especially cover it) you have to make it your own, not what the artist originally wanted it to be, and that's what a perfect circle did.
i kind of prefer this version to the OLP one, just cuz the war child version sucked ass, but their live version of it totally kicks ass... nothing comes close to touching lenon's original version though. Did you guys hear about Yoko Ono making a remake of "Give Peace a Chance"? And is anyone else as pissed off about this as me?

I've seen it too and I thought it was actually very well done.

They portrayed the exact same message with today's current events reflecting on these days of war/turmoil/death etc... It's a great song.
It signifies a dim ray of hope and that's an incredibly important and deep message the world needs right now.

The entire album sucked except for Passive. This is one album I'm glad i downloaded rather than bought.

I
quite like it. Then again, I like APC.
Not sure if it should've been released as a single though. I think if they'd just kept it on the album less people would be pissed off. However, it's the most recognizable song on the album (I think) so it would make sense as the single. ...And now I'm just going around in circles.

I agree about the single thing. I don't like when bands release remakes and they're singles etc... mostly that they get videos for the remakes is what angers me. LENNY KRAVITZ YOU HOMO!
Um... if anything should have been a single it should have been Passive.
