Your hard drive is dirty.

Open the case and scrub the inside with soap, water, and a loofa.

to fix it, run your XP cd and find an option in the installation procedure that lets you uninstall the old version of windows and you can then install a new version in the same directory. its just like installing a new version of windows but without the format!

How do you propose to do that if it won't even load up?

Like I said... he doesn't know what it means... he told someone on the hub to do it, too, then admitted he just learned the word and has no idea what he was talking about. :P

Kermit needs a good fragging.

For the computer help, you're using Windows XP? A repair install would probably be the best first step to take. If you let the reinstall disc run it will probably format the hard drive and you'll lose all data, but a repair install of Windows will only replace Windows system files, so in theory your computer should work and all your documents should be intact after that. I would assume that you would have to reinstall some programs before they work again, but I've never done a repair install (it's better to reformat and do a full reinstall if that is an option) so I'm no expert.
