the movie sucked. I'm sorry, but it did.
I guess the theory is that if there are millions of species of animals that have yet to be discovered at all, and many of them live in the ocean, why not this?
Though I think it's more like the fascination of myths and the unknown. Stuff like that is always fascinating from a distance, and since we don't really know if this existed or not, it will always be fascinating.
While writing this I forgot how to type.

supposedly they're starting to do mad research on this, and some scientists think they'll find something in the mediteranian or off the coast of greece.

The best held theory is that Atlantis was a mediterranean civilisation that was wiped out in a tsunami, much like the one that annihilated Minoa. I dont remember the name of the volcano that did it though

I think it exists... there's really no reason to think it doesn't... and I really don't see the big deal about it. It's a city that's now underwater... there'll be lotsa those in 238947238974237 years when all of our cities are underwater. :*)**
