Monday kicks off the *offical* Republican National Convention in NYC. Just curious on what your thougts on this are?.

It has all ready been crazy in the city. THe protests have all ready started and more are planned in the next 48 hours. This weekend is going to be one nightmare with traffic and getting around the Mid-Town between 14th-59th streets.

I have to work so I will feel the effects of the convention.

There are suppose to be over 3000 Police and agents around MSG alone.

They have all ready been doing police runs and such. I only hope it all goes smoothly and the violent radicals they claim to show up realy won't.

on another note.:
Sen. Kerry was across the street from where I work earlier in the week. I didn't see him cause he was still given a speech when I went to lunch.

Wow, Closing streets and trains because of Republican Convention! Thats wild. But I guess I could understand it. If I could be there protesting, I would be :D. But not violently, thats lame. Violence to get across a point is immature.

The most fun thing you can do at a protest is to counter protest. Getting up the noses of the protesters is always fun.

That doesn't sound like fun. These people have spines, which is more than the vast majority of people in this world possess.

No most of them are bandwagon jumpers. 80% of people in a protest wont actually know more than what the media has splashed all over the front pages over the past week.

Look, I can understand protesting War and the like, but the Republican Convention? There is one every election and we need both the Republican and Democratic conventions in this nation. It is important to get ideas and thoughts from both ends of the spectrum so we can meet in the middle and make most people happy. Protesting a convention is like saying only your ideas are right and that there should only be one party. That's just unreasonable.

I would agree with you if the two parties agreed to meet in the middle and comprimise on issues.

I don't think these protesters are protesting the republican convention, but rather the choices made by the republicans over the last 4 years. A lot of people are angry with the way the US government has acted, and they must feel this is a great opportunity to display their angst.

They aren't protesting the convention. They are protesting The Republicans Policies on various issues.

I don't know what people's polictical view are on here. it is just crazy now with all going on.

I suppose it was like this in BOSTON for the Democratic Convention also.

RNC = Royal Newfoundland Constabulary

You dont know very much about it do you. :wtf: . That was a gross generalization. Some people actually do care about the politics, and the quality of life they live in. You shouldn't say things like that without actual knowledge. :cuss:

Because it is. Not necessarily saying the Republicans will listen[They Havent So Far]. I 100% Support protests. They are one of our civil rights, and we should utilise them.

oh okay. thanks for the heads up. Today was a big rally for Abortion Rights and the Woman's right to choose in front of City Hall. Tomorrow is anothre huge march along lower manhattan.

A few people were arrested the other night cause they hung up a sign out of THE PLAZA that says BUSH> Thruth<. They were also naked with DROP THE DEBT and AIDS RELIEF> THis is something I support(D.A.T.A & ONECAMPAIGN). It is to the governments to drop the debt from poor conuntries so they can use th emoney to help fight aids and other disease. Things we take for granted like a booster shot for a baby, or vacines in other coutries are hard to come by cause they can't afford simple medicines.

It seems that alot of people are against alot of things. I wonder if it was this bad in Boston.

For All the Anti-Bush folks out there, I hope that your head is on straight enough not to support Senator Kerry. Bush isn't the best president ever, but he would do a better job than Mr. I-Appease-out-of-my-ass Kerry. Now, I'm going to continue watching mainstream media trash everything they see.
