so the US is thinking about postponing the election

terror threat, blah blah blah.

basically, remember the spanish election where the *barf* commies won right after that terrorist attack.

the USA is anticipating similar tactics so they're thinking about postponing the election.

obviously... big time conspiracy theory stuff here.

let's talk about it.

i don't really see conspiracy here.

in the event of an attack, an election should be postponed IMO. The Spanish election should have not taken place because of the attacks in their land just a couple days before the election.

they shouldn't be delayed, because then they (whoever they are) win.

That depends on what their goal is...

If there is an attack right before, I suppose they could be delayed. But delaying them in case there's an attack seems ridiculious.

and thats what the point of it is... to delay the election if an attack does occur. i, personally, see no problem with it.

I honestly think it is just a way to delay the election cause Bush is scared he may not win. We are going to be attacked whether Bush is in office or Kerry. Terrorist don't care who is leader cause they hate what the USA stands for. Or stood for.

I remember people freaking out in 2000 when they didn't have an elected president cause of the voting. They were saying we don't have a president.

Yes we did. Clinton was president. So what would of been the big deal if he was president a few weeks longer. Now the Republicans are saying Let's Delay cause we need to concentrate on this rightnow.

How come they weren't concentrating on it before the planes crashed into the WTC, Pentagon, and the field in PA.

Same thing when NYC had to vote for Mayor. they wanted to keep Guiliana in office cause of how he was pulling the city back together after the attacks. They said no, that the new mayor should be able to do the same job.

it is just another tatic by the Republicans. The polls are tied now anyway. Bush and Kerry are about the same in the Polls so it is anybody's right now.

hahaha

wow i thought more people would get this right away, maybe i'm the only nutcase around here after all.

I'll spell it out for you guys:

How did Hitler gain absolute control of his democratic government? He did things like delay elections.

are you guys seeing the connection here?

I could see that being the problem if Bush delayed the election "in case of" an attack. If there is an attack before or on the day of the election, it should be postponed.

Then again, I suppose Bush could just hire some goons to drive a vehicle randomly chosen out of hat a into a building/place randomly pulled out of hat b. Fun games played in the oval office.

i'm not saying he is doing it on purpose

but if you're into conspiracy theories this news just stirs that pot

Bush managed to delay the last election then all his dadies friends in the supreme court decided to stop the balloting when Bush was ahead.

So with Bush's administration in power what's to stop him making an executive decision in the name of homeland security In Nov if there's an attack and the polls arn't in his favor?

I think it's BS if they delay the election. How many decades if not centuries ahs election day been on the 11th? (I hope I have the right date but too lazy to double check :) )

I'd rant more but work calls

It's actually the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November, but you get a cookie anyway. ;)

I'm inclined to think this is a lame Republican ploy, but, much as I hate him, I hardly think Bush is angling to be the next Hitler.

its sounds to me like polls are slipping, things are looking tough and the Bush admin needs to take a break so they can whip everyone into another patriotic frenzy. after all F911, was just the tip of recent fuck ups, actually you can't even begin to defend this admins record anymore. A republican vote at this point is either a vote out of pride or a character flaw
