I was going to go for surround, but I just don't have a good space for it (L shaped desk, with my comp on one leg of it, no place for left-rear speaker).

Mwa ha ha!
They were pricey, but I got them at Canada Computers, so it cost a little less.
$205 (with tax). Well, $180, because I'm selling my old ones (which are still working perfectly fine) to a friend of mine who's got crappy speakers, for $25.

i run a cambride soundworks and harmon kardon hybrid to produce 6.2 surround sound its hella cool. but yah, those do look like nice speakers

*looks at her little speakers that don't even have a subwoofer*...
I want better speakers... but I love how well these fit in my desk, darn it. Maybe someday when I have more than just this one room that's crammed full of so much stuff I wouldn't even have room for different speakers, let alone a subwoofer.

Well, the subwoofer sits on the floor, so that's not a big problem. And most speakers today are really space-conserving.

I don't have any free floor space, though.
Even under my desk, I've got my computer on one side, and a ton of papers and crap stacked on the other side (from high school
)... and my speakers now lie on their sides pushed all the way back inside my desk... uhh... that's hard to explain and made no sense probably. But yeah. I'm pretty much stuck with these speakers til my mom moves out of this house years from now and I take over all the rooms and can spread out.
