Iraq prisoner abuse

So.
Here's what i love about these photos. I mean, it's hilarious that the military is basically going to find the grunts involved and charge them instead of trying to find out how far up the food chain this scandal travels.
But the thing i absolutely love is that before these pictures came out, there was not one pro-war american citizen who would budge on "supporting our troops". If you asked him if he thought the abuse shown in these pictures was possible, he would say that he KNEW with 110% confidence that it would never happen.
Even the posters here are probably guilty. Now that these photos have come out, the new stance is that only the few soldiers implicated so far could be capable of committing these atrocities, and hell no these photos aren’t indicative of a larger problem.
This is a racist war. I’m not saying that race was the reason the war started, and I’m not talking about racism in the conventional sense. What I am saying is that the arab race has become sub-human in the eyes of Americans. Now what we have here is Americans with guns in charge of safe guarding people that they don’t even consider people.
This was bound to happen. It’s probably going to happen again. It’s probably still happening.
What do I hope to accomplish with this post? It’s just a little more proof, in my opinion at least, that all people are made up of the same stuff. Arab or American. Torture, it seems, is not just something that Iraqi’s are capable of. Apparently Americans can do it, too. To quote the onion, “Thank God Saddam's in jail so he can't commit atrocities like this anymore."
Bush = Saddam. When will we see it?

the thing that gets me is they refer to this as ABUSE. But if it was american's it would have been called something a hell of a lot more then abuse, sorry but using acid and eltrifying genitals is more then ABUSE! Then when an American man, who was in that situation because of America in the first place is decapitated they use words like "tragdey" "beheaded" "Cold Blooded". Hmmmmm so Iraqi's are cold blooded for that bt american's are just following corrupt orders? They've made a horrible mistake? When 9/11 happens it's the largest tragedy in the worlds history (in American eyes) but thosands slaughtered, tortured, beaten, opressed, and robbed. Is...............an ongoing mission? Someone tell me what's wrong with this world
PS Where the hell is Venom now?
PPS Just thought i would add something else. Recently released hostages and prisoners claimed that for the most part they were treated reasonably well, given water and even taken to doctors for bullet injuries. Meanwhile the "forces of good" are beating the shit out of, raping, humiliating, deprieving, and flat out torturing it's prisoners. Who the fuck are the good guys again?
Is it just me or is this turning into one huge fucking Star Wars remake?

I am sick that this gets so much attention. Yes, what these Americans did is beyond wrong. And they will be punished. And they should be punished. But the people IN those prisons did something to deserve to get there. If they were downright evil I say they had it coming to them.

Evil is a term Bush and his lackey's love to throw around. These are detainee's many of them haven't done anything, which is obvious considering hundreds were set free when the prison came under scrutiny. Obviously many of these people are held with out just cause. And even if they did have petty crimes on their record no one deserves what they got and i doubt that any of them could have commited much worse then what happened to them. You see angry about seeing it all the time, perhaps you should be angry at the people who did it. If sick bastards out there, that are supported by you the republican voters then you should have to face everything they do. Because what they do is brought on by what your people do in the voters booth

your rationalization is that they got what they deserved because they were evil. Well obviously that bitch lindi or whatever is evil as well some start raping and beating the shit out of her too. After all that's what we do with evil people.

not really, some of these people are innocent, but may have acted suspiciously. (not on the basis of what you and i think are suspicious activities.) I only hope there is more attention to this, and they find how it links up to Bush.

Because obviously Bush called them up and asked them to pesaonlly abuse those prisoners, I'm sure that's how it heppened
If someone is a terrorist, they deserved what they got! I don't care what you say, they did. If they were innocent, then they didn't deserve it and those people should be put in jail! I don't condone what they did at all. They are just as evil as the terrorists. And evil is a real term, Bush didn't make it up. Evil is not a relative term, you can't justify it.

those men weren't terrorists, that's easy to see. Everyone in Iraq is not a terrorist. CHances are they are just suspecious people, or old Bathe supporters. At very worst they were people fighting because they did not believe in the occupation. And i'm sorry but fighting off invaders of your country is not evil. WHy is it so dispicable to see Nick Berg's death, but not the thosands dead in Iraq?

I didn't say it was despicable to see his death.

but obviously you feel that way, and if not why not?

I think it is horrible. But media should focus on the larger picture, instead of this one guy's death. Or maybe not, because this is just another act of terrorism. But, what business did he have over there anyway? If he wanted to help, he should have enlisted.

So in other words, if he wanted to help, he should have been issued weaponry?
Posted: 5/13/2004, 2:06 pm
by Henrietta
No, he should have went through the proper channels or donated money to people dedicated to getting them food, etc.

perhaps he wanted to help and wantednothing to do with the American military. It isn't america over there you know, he has every right to help out and not be american military

I'm not heartless, it's horrible. But it doesn't change the fact that now he's dead.

Prisioners get abused in wars, every war in fact. It just so happens that this time, we've got thousands of soldiers over there with digital cameras and the democratic news has nothing else to talk about. You didnt see Daniel Pearl getting beheaded after the Iraqis forced him to say he was jewish and that his whole family was jewish. Did you see that on the news?

did you see american's raping vietnamese on the news, did you see them shooting women?

That was the 60's and 70's they still had restrictions on what could be shown, With the way the FCC has been limiting stuff, I'm surprised they havent cut the throats of the media yet.
