As of April 13th, 2004........you may now call me Reverend Neil.

That's right......here's a snippet from my "Proclamation of Ordination".

Proclamation of Ordination

Thank you Reverend Neil J. Lyons

Please understand that if this is not your LEGAL name, this is not a valid ordination. We are referring to everything after the "Reverend" part above. Assumed names and "taken" names are NOT acceptable. ALL states require ministers to sign legal contracts with their legal name. This applies to your Ordination Certificate and any Marriage License you may sign. If this name is NOT your legal name, please let us know immediately and we will make the necessary changes. Also, if your name legally changes or other information needs to be updated, please let us know so that the registry has your current information at all times.

Effective April 13, 2004,

I, Douglas E. Hickman, Ordaining officer of the Universal Ministries, do Ordain, Anoint, Appoint, and Select you for placement into our Registry of Ministry. This means that from this day forward, unless you request to be removed, you are a minister with the Universal Ministries. This being said, we welcome you into our Ministries of Universal Acceptance.

I did it after I watched the episode of "friends" where Joey offically gets ordained over the internet.

So....I thought I'd be curious, and here I am.

all you need is a Marriage Contract.. then you can have people sign it, bring it to city hall and it's official. w00t.

some protestant church allows you to fill out forms over the internet... then they give you some sort of document that makes it official.

Probably because they have no ties to the religion at all...that may be why they'd feel bad.

True....but, there are people out there that get married that AREN'T as religious. I admit, I don't faithfully go to church on a weekly basis, but I know where my roots are.

Josh - I think it's universalministries.com that I went through.
