What do you use to download music?

AS most of you are probably aware our beloved Kazaa (lite) is now complete bullshit.
It is not desireable to download a song and have a ear spliting fax machine noise burst from the speakers as the chorus begins to sway you into thinking you like the song.
It is remarkable that the hundreds of thousands of users on Kazaa deem it a decent, and correct action to not (gasp) DELETE the corrupt music file so no-one else has to deal with it, but KEEP the ear splitting sounds so others may benefit from agony and migraines.
SO, I ask YOU what wonderful Free program is best to use to get the fullness of your illegal exploits in music file sharing? I need my fix of Avril lavignes new single PRONTO!

I use WinMX... not as many matches as Kazaa, but you almost always avoid that horrible horrible sound.

Two more things: 1) Are downloads reasonably fast? 2) Where can I find out about the programs?

I still use Kazaa lite, although sporadically. The only explanation i have for why people keep the corrupt files is because they haven't listened to the song yet. That happens to me when I download multiple songs while doing other stuff, I don't get around to checking the integrity of the file. Lots of times you can easily pick out the corrupt files, just check if the file name has a capital in it, if it's all small print it's usually a bogus file.

I use bittorrent....but basically just for the site (supanova) that Josh posted above cuz that hooks me up with the full albums 'n stuff.
I actually still use Kazaa Lite....I hate that damn screeching sound, but i've managed to work my way around it for THIS long.
I'm also a subscriber to ITunes, but I prefer to not pay for the majority of my music. Unless they deserve my sales, then I generally buy it at the store.

I use iTunes for whatever I want to buy. For stuff I don't, I use Ares because it is the only free program that the university hasn't blocked.

eMule is slow, but good for downloading big files (ie. full concerts, full albums)
again.. VERY slow.. don't use it to download single songs, but rather try for full albums. It's reliable and I have yet to download a bogus file.
..i forget the site, though.

Be careful with bittorrent, guys. Got a letter from Comcast the other day cos they caught me downloading a file through bittorrent on suprnova.org... a tv show, but regardless, people seem to monitor suprnova for illegal downloads.

Unless you're Canadian. Then you can just flip them off and continue downloading.

Any other programs to try? I noticed most of you didnt tell me where to get the ones you suggested.
So I took 35 minutes to download 'limewire'.
I must say its one of the hardest programs that I have ever used. Definetly Not user friendly. Twas slow, twas ugly, twas annoying...
needless to say, I deleted it within the day.
Luckily I got 2 songs out of it though! Took me over an hour, but at least I got them with no Ear splitting sounds!
