Fuck I wanna go.

they just announced the lineup... it's two days this year... it's gonna be held at the DTE Energy Theatre

Day 1 (may 20) includes dashboard, the get up kids, and thrice.
Day 2 (may 21) includes blink, the used, and taking back sunday

anyone planning on going?

hmm.....

day one looks good but i'll probably throw up if i see dashboard yet again. not that i dont like them. just that the last couple times have been crazy annoying.

two questions:
1. is DTE anywhere near the border.
2. are the get up kids even on the radio??

Yeah. They should give free tickets to people who drive Civics. I wouldn't go, but at least my hoodie-wearing 15-year old cousin wouldn't complain about not being able to go.

I think this is one of the worst lineups in a long time for 89X. I bet they just called some venues and were like, "Hey, can we sponsor your show?" instead of actually booking stuff themselves.

I would very much like to go on the second day ..

all the bands on the first day i'll be seeing together may 15th anyway ..

i don't know how to get to detroit though :(
and nobody will come with me :(

but seeing the used would make me very happy
one band i have to see live eventually

Have non-emo/non-punk rock bands died? I'm not sure what the 89x bashes are usually like, but all of those bands are the same emo or punk-related types. Not a criticism, as I like most of them, but it just seems weird that that is the selection of bands picked to represent "rock music."

yeah.... i dont like it. the radio's been going crazy with this type of music.

probably 60% of the bands being played wouldn't have been considered for air time a year ago.[/i]

The birthday bashes are usually better than this, but it's probably because I like the kind of music showcased in other years. Two years ago they had OLP, Sloan, and Dashboard, and then last year they had Finch and Three Days Grace and ...Staind. It's all about who they think is going to sell. If you're going to target someone, you might as well get the kids with disposable income.

yeah, well, some of it is. it's at pine knob (dte) which is like, half seated, half lawn seats. i don't know if tickets are still available, but if they are lawn seats own. i love this venue. plus, a tip, if you buy lawn seats, it's like, super easy to get in the seated area, then make your way down to the stage if you're crafty. trust me, i've done it a couple of times.
