Uh Oh. All i can say, is i am ashamed to be a canucks fan at this moment. I feel so horrible for Steve Moore(Who has a fractured Spine).I also feel deeply ashamed that Marc Crawford SMIRKED from the bench. Jesus Fucking Christ. I feel bad for Bertuzzi, im told he's devastated. In real life, he's a softie. This is horrible. Black Thursday has occurred on a tuesday, fro hockey this year.

he made a mistake. a bad judgement call, in the heat of the moment. moore is hurt, but not out. he's not going to suffer any longterm injuries(as of this far). this shouldnt change you liking bertuzzi or not, lack of respect, yeah i could see that. but on the whole he is an integral hockey star.

it should change how i feel about a player
i used to have respect for and like tie domi
but then he tried to behead scott neidermayer
after that i hated the fucktard
i have no problem with guys playing hard
i have no problem with guys being phyiscal
where i do have a problem is when guys do stupid things that endanger the lives of others.. ie. domi, bertuzzi, mclaren, mcsorely, marchment to a certain extent (i hate cheap shots too)
others as well

Imagine if someone did that to anyone else anywhere other than a hockey rink. They'd be in fucking jail right now.
I don't care if it's all a "part of the game", he could have killed the guy. Hockey is physical, so obviously he's not going to get severely punished. He should definately be kicked out of the league, though. Maybe then people will smarten the fuck up.

Being a hockey player i can understand how in the heat of the moment things can happen. It's not right, but I think that it's part of the game. You have to play it to understand, I guess. It was a cheap shot definitely, and a suspension (less than what Mcsorley received) is warranted. He shouldn't be banned from the league. That would be extreme, since worse things have happened in the game than this. Watch a lot of games and it isn't uncommon to see one player take an entire shift chasing a player around to try and start something. If things have been that heated, such as it were between Van and Col, it's pretty normal.
Also Rob, sport and day-to-day life are totally seperate things. In sports (especially hockey) you understand the risks of playing. Everytime a player gets hit he could potentionally be killed. Everytime a player takes a slapshot someone might be hit by it and killed. It's part of the game, and if the potential for death was taken into account there would be far more sports to be mentionned before this incident (namely boxing, race car driving, football, rugby, etc.).

i agree with you for the most part jim
except it almost seems you are giving bert an excuse in a sense (strictly the chasing the player around the ice part) .. i take exception to that.. if the whole thing wasnt premeditated it would be better.. if guys on vancouver wouldnt stop trying to take him out it would be better.. moore fought once that game, (with matt cooke) and that should be enough.. after that leave him be, the moore hit on nazzy wasnt dirty and wasnt something that warranted premeditated retribution. the suspension should be in between the matt johnson hit on jeff bookeboom (sp?) (which was 12 games) and the mcsorely incident (23 games) .. i figure a 15-17 game suspension wouldnt be out of the question.. but in all likelihood a 13 gamer would be whats given since thats how many games the nucks have left in the season

it is not right that fighting is still considered part of hockey. any other sport (soccer for instance) one push of another player and you're out at least for that game. if you attacked them, the police would definatly be involed.
its so hard to put the lines on where police should become part of the situation. on one hand, people realize its serious, not because its breaking the rules, but because it can really get somone hurt. but on the other hand, how can you give someone the same punishment as if it happened unprovoked in the street? its accepted that at least some degree of this is going to happen in hockey. you know that when you step on the ice.

Ya, I don't mean to give Bertuzzi an excuse. What he did was wrong, but I think a lot of people are taking into account the fact he chased him around for the entire shift, when that happens every night somewhere in the league. I agree that the hit on Naslund wasn't a cheap shot, and that Moore's first fight should have been enough.
And Yannic, Fighting has to be a part of hockey. It plays an important role in protecting star players. Without it, I'm willing to bet guys like Gretzky and Lemieux wouldn't have lasted a week without being targetted by other team's goons. It's a financial issue since the NHL has to protect its star players who attract fans and bring in money for each club.

Naslund's call for restraint is in sharp contrast to teammate Brad May's assertion that a "bounty" has been placed on the rookie's head. Todd Bertuzzi, who is Naslund's linemate, said of Moore: "No way that punk will be in their lineup in March."
McSorley's suspension also would include the playoffs, but Boston, which has won only 18 games with 23 remaining, will probably miss the postseason. The longest previous suspension was 21 games given to Washington's Dale Hunter for a blindside check of the New York Islanders' Pierre Turgeon after a goal in a 1993 playoff game. There have been longer suspensions for drug use.
"Mr. McSorley's act is entirely unacceptable," NHL vice president Colin Campbell said. "It would be grossly unfair to suggest that his conduct is at all representative of the game, of the other 700 players who play in the NHL or of the countless others who play hockey at all levels."
"It's disgusting, terrible, absolutely disgusting," Vancouver right wing Todd Bertuzzi said. "That does not need to be in the game of hockey. I've never seen anything like that in my life."
Finding that the McSorley had intended to slash Vancouver Canuck Donald Brashear, Judge William Kitchen rejected McSorley's claims that the hit was accidental and sentenced McSorley to an 18 month conditional discharge. He noted that McSorley had no income since the incident and incurred considerable costs in paying his attorneys.
Brashear suffered a concussion from the incident, but says that he is fully recovered. During the trial, witnesses included on-ice officials, Canucks coach Marc Crawford, and former Edmonton Oilers General Manager Glen Sather. Wayne Gretzsky made an appearance in court, but did not testify.
bertuzzi is a gutless punk that should be out for the playoffs

Yeah i agree. It shouldnt be, but it is. And its allowed, and it happens. I was at the game McSorly got Brash. And it is incomparable to what bertuzzi did. McSorely aimed to hurt. He hit him with a stick for fucks sake! Plus, all the blame can't lie on bertuzzi, because he only hit him, then everyone doggy piled and thats how he broke his neck. it is inexcusable, but banning him from the league is too much. i say he should be out as long as moore is.even though bertuzzi is far more an asset, i think thats fair.

what about that blatant 2 hander of say doug weight or any of the rather viscious plays of keith tkachuk al?
(im sorry, but given you are a st. louis fan and the some of the dirty crap blues players have done and the whole rivalry/hated amongst blues and 'nucks fans i cant see you as a totally unbiased person in this situation.. its not you as a person just that i wouldnt ask a fan of the blues or avs on their opinion on a player on that team)
along those same lines, i will never be asked to give an unbiased opinion on what i think about kyle mclaren after the incident w/ him and richard zednick when mclaren was a bruin. or about any guy on the leafs

what about them? what about the vancouver player (forgot who) that two handed zettenberg's leg and broke it? and May's vicious plays? They all served their time.
none of those incidents were as vicious as betuzzi's premeditated head hunt....the worst part is seeing bertuzzi's 250+lb body just slam moore's face onto the ice....I don't have to be a non-blues fan to realize that was one of the worst incidents of intenting to injure ever....

supposedly for whats its worth bert was tripped or something as well and thats why he fell but thats not coming from me entirely as i havent seen an angle where thats seen
as for the suspension i will agree with whatever the NHL hands down
i re-read my own post and felt like i was giving bert too much credit and got sick lol.. but i will say this, and i know im opening up a can of worms but if this incident deserves a 13 + (however many playoff games the nucks last) suspension then keith tkachuk's next stick infraction should be worth atleast 10-15 games (depending on severity) based solely on the fact that he's taken 2 shots at a guys head with his stick in the past 2 years
