Lucid Dreaming

Lucid dreaming is dreaming while knowing that you are dreaming. This fascinating state of consciousness allows you to control your dreams and experience anything imaginable, from the sublime to the impossible.

So, has anyone here ever have a lucid dream?

You can read books on it. I have been able to control my dreaming juat a little bit in the past. For instance, if it's really scary, I've been able to tell myself it's just a dream, then I wake up. As far as controlling what happens, I can't do that.

Ahhh! Watch the movie Waking Life now! It's about this!

And yes, I've actually been able to control my dreams before.

I can do that too, usually. That's about it, though.

I find dreams quite fascinating. I'll have to see Waking Life.

I have been able to control my dreams but only to a certain extent if that makes any sense. Speaking of dreams whats the scariest dream you've ever had? Sorry if this is moving to far away from the original topic.

I don't really remember any dreams I have.

And really, how do you guys control your own dreams? Dreams happen during REM sleep and are usually about things that you have experienced right before sleep or things that you have been thinking about a lot. I never actually knew of anyone who "controlled" what they dreamt. There are dreams that happen inside dreams, but I don't think you control that.

Very rarely do i ever dream about something that has happened right before sleep or something that im thinking about a lot. I really dont know how i can control them either. The most interesting thing about dreams, or my dreams at least is they dont seem to follow the normal progression of time. For instance i can dream for what seems like hours in the 5 minutes it takes for the snooze button to go off again.

Actually you probably do, you just don't remember it.

I never remember my dreams. And the ones I do remember are absolutely retarded. (i.e. Raine holding a box of shrimp. And the other night there was a video game things...and you had to collect the cats and run past the giant, really slow, snakes...:freak:) I have never had a lucid dream because I have read about them and I know they are a little different then what I have experienced. The closest thing I have come to is when I wake up and then roll over to go back to sleep and I try to remember what I was dreaming. Then I have some control. But my dreams are strange and entertaining so I wouldn't want to mess with them anymore.

Because they are out of the ordinary probably. Also, you have a tendency to remember best when you naturally wake up as opposed to waking yourself up with an alarm clock.

I never remembered dreams either until my AP Psych teacher gave us a project where we recorded our dreams right when we woke up so they stayed in our minds. Often, I'd find myself up at three in the morning after having a dream and actually remember it because I told myself I would before I went to sleep. I thought it was funny because I had a dream about remembering my dreams.
