Who are your favorite 5 rock singers and why??

Brian Byrne : Originailty, EMOTION, melody, range, and most of all JUST AS GOOD LIVE! He doesn't use a ear piece (like raine) at concerts.

Raine Maida : You guys know why

Perry Farrel: Unique, amazing range

Matthew Good: by no means is he more technically talented then anyone, but he makes up for it just by the feeling and emotion in his songs.

Guy from Black Lab: ok this is embrassing because i don't know his name. But he has the one of the best sounding voices out there. He also has emotion.

honorable mentions go to Maynard, David Usher, Brandon Boyd

In no particular order:

Layne Staley (AIC)-I could feel the pain he was conveying in his songs. Plus I own alot of their albums.

Daryl Palumbo (Glassjaw)-Simply amazing lyricist in my opinion.

Sarah McLachlan-so honest and so true.

Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins/Zwan)-the guy was a rebel w/a cause. He led the revolution and he changed the way i look at music.

Gavin Rossdale (Bush)-the songs connect w/me.

Last one:
Gwen Stefani (No Doubt)-She's beautiful, besides that, she's dedicated to music.

Layne Staley - His voice was beauty. You just knew how passionate he was about what he wrote. It's a fucking shame he died.

Matt Skiba - So raw, so young, so perfect for his songs

Dan Andriano - He has an odd voice, like mine, but it works so well with all of his Costello-esque lyrics.

The guy from Interpol - I don't know his name, and am too out of it to check, but amazes me in its monotonous tone. It's just perfect.

Ben Gibbard - Sounds so innocent and young, and works perfectly with his music and lyrics.

I'm going to have to say John Lennon, in both The Beatles, and his Plastic Ono Band and solo stuff. It's just..... you can't beat that voice.

funny this topic would come up coz i was just thinking about this the other day. . .

1. Maynard James Keenan from Tool and APC - incredible lyricist and versatile, unique, and emotional vocal style

2. Chino Moreno from Deftones - just pure emotion, one of the few bands that I like the screaming in

3. Brian Byrne from IME - also incredibly emotional, and very versatile

4. Daniel Johns from silverchair - amazing vocal range from low to insanely high, great tone, can sing classical sounding sound and metal songs on the same album

5. Raine Maida - just for old times sake / chris martin from coldplay - soothing and soulful / chris cornell from audioslave and soundgarden - has something like a six octave range, and just a cool sound
