Wow, some days I think we are still living in caves.

Its hard to take the Army seriously when they want to represent freedom, but condone getting rid of "a certain type of people" from their ranks.........its as bad as excluding other races. What does being gay matter on the battle field??? Since being black or being a woman doesn't matter, its pretty obvious that being gay shouldn't either.

Because obviously "the gays" will want to wear pink clothes, which doesn't make for good camouflage.

but seriously even if your going to be homophobic the worst a gay man could act is like a woman.....which they let into the army as well.

But do men and women sleep in the same barracks? And do you know why that is?

Even then, a gay person isn't any more likely to go wacko than anyone else...

Women and men do not sleep in the same barracks to avoid sexual assaults. If you're not calling this man a rapist, then what exactly IS your point?

There was a huge amount of cases in the Canadian military a few years back where women in the military were getting raped. Alot. So quite obviously, this does happen.

Maybe there should be a rule that they arent allowed to have sex instead of making them deny their sexual orientaion. Although, I have no idea how one would inforce that. But it makes no difference if the army knows or not. They're still gay. Why the hush-hush?

But he does has people in his barracks that are of the type that he is sexually attracted to, analogous to men and women needing separate barracks.

*DISCLAIMER: I'm not saying what the army is doing is right, I'm just trying to point out potential reasons for it. I think the debator mentality has leaked into me (I'm part of the debate club at UBC).

I'm pretty sure if a gay man tried something would be kciked out pretty quick, but if he didn't why punish him?

Besides, who in their right mind would try something like that when surrounded by many men that like to kick ass. Somehow I don't think they'd be 'well accepted'...

you basically just rationalized the "don't ask, don't tell" policy.
