KLite is actually just kazaa with no spyware. To shut KLite down, the makers of Kazaa are going to have to completely redo the core of their file-sharing system, which would be a big ol' pain in the arse.

What DID get shutdown were the people making KLite. They can no longer make or distribute any versions of KLite.

Actually all they have to do is check for the certain dll's when kazaa-lite is connecting to the network. Since there are no kazaa-lite supernodes, it will slowly be cutoff from the network. They can do it instantaneously.

But fortuantely, someone posted the source code of some kazaa-lite dervative (kazaa k++?). It's written in assembly. Attached below is a compiled version with instructions on how to run it. *credit goes to someone by the name of random_nut*

Still works for me.

I don't download much anymore because I always get the crap scared out of me when an mp3 switches to SCREECHING static 20 seconds in.

I HATE that! Same reason I've stopped using it for mp3s.

Yup - that's exactly why I switched to WinMX.
