care to explain it.
the ending basically brought me right back to the begining of the first one, except there's no war pending anymore... also what the hell was up with the little girl making the sunset at the end?

WARNING. SPOILERS TO FOLLOW
highlight the black if you want to read my thoughts
first of all, some people are complaining that both "Reloaded" and "Revolutions" got away from the original storyline of a war against the machines. well, i say that the war just changed dynamics. in "The Matrix" Neo & Co thought that Zion was safe and that they could free minds to win the war. However, the last transmission of the osiris changed all that.
All of the sudden, they were out of time. Now their purpose switched to finding any way at all to stop the destruction of their home. In "Reloaded", Neo steps up his efforts to complete the path of The One and do what he believes will stop the machines. When he realizes that even being The One is just another form of control for the machines, he breaks from his original path and starts making his own choices.
Why did Neo choose peace? Because, just like his batte with Smith in the Matrix City, the machines and the humans were too balanced. Neither side could ever "win" the war. The humans could not keep the machines out of zion, and the machines would never be able to fully stop people from yearning to be out of the matrix.
peace was the only way to end the war and to break the cycle.
I loved all the parallels in this movie. When Neo says "the program smith has grown beyond your control. you cannot stop him, but i can" that's a pattern right there! The humans created AI, which in turn created the matrix and grew beyond human control. The machines then turned around and created Smith, which grew beyond their control. ANother circular pattern.. a revolution, if you will allow me to be so campy.
Then you have the fight between Smith & Neo. At one point, Smith has knocked Neo out and he's standing in a room with him. Neo spits out bloody saliva and gets up, doing the "c'mere" taunt, which is the exact same sequence of events that happened before Neo destroys Smith in "The Matrix"
neat.
it's true that this movie STILL had loose ends.. but that's just the way the Wachowski's direct. it had some scenes that didn't make sense and the ending felt rushed. But it also had some of the most awesome scenes ever, and it did complete the trilogy and the path of The One.
i know this is a long post and some of my ranting doesn't make sense, but i have so many thoughts about this movie.

I saw it and boy do I have an opinion.
Doug said that there were loose ends and to be honest, no there arn't. If you watch the animatrix (which I don't recommend) and play (and complete) the video game then you will get vingettes and shit that explane everything. Nothing is left unanswered, or that was their goal. If you mean by asking questions on the future, then yes things are left out. But everything in the movies are explaned at some point.
I realized something though. I did not like reloaded or revolutions. And to be honest, I think thats my fault. It wasn't because I wanted it to live up to expectations or anything but it was because when I saw the first one I was in awe and I was very happy with the movie, and I realize now that I didn't want a sequal or think that there needed to be one. I know that it was planed all along to be a triliogy but I think it stands on its own as a movie and I didn't want to ruin that. But I did, so I blame me.
I also think that the second two movies really took away from something that made the Matrix stand out to a lot of people. There was a certain elite-ness to it that made a lot of people like it. It kept you on your tows and you needed to pay attention. It wasn't a movie for the closed minded and that is what drew a lot of people in. I also think that because it was a movie based on a completly average persons life that people connected with it more. It was an average guy, with and average job, that didn't seem that special to anyone...but then he became "the one" and got to save the world. Subconsciencly, I think a lot of people connect with that and really like that fantasy element. And since the next two movie had already established a hero, there really isnt anything left for you to connect to.
...holy crap. my post turned into a rant.
So yeah. I am sticking with the One and Only original. It hasn't let me down yet.

You know why I didn't like this movie, or the one before it? Becuase the first one wasn't that amazing either. Yes, the first movie had the amazing computer effects in it, which made it so amazing, then every other single fucking movie got them too. That's what the let down was in the last two. The hallmark of the movie, the amazing effects, became commonplace by the second movie.
The plots to these things weren't exactly easy enough for the general public to comprehend, so they would go for all the "amazing bending" and what not. If the general public knew this was a three-part story on Jesus, do you think anyone would have given a shit about the first movie? No.
I don't care about the flying around and the effects in the first movie. I didn't buy into it. I found the first one to be boring. That's why I didn't give a fuck about Reloaded or Revolutions. If the amazing one is boring, when why should I expect something amazing out of a sequal?
The end.

Ooh Alan I quite disagree, The first one blew my mind when I first saw it. I didn't care much for the fight scenes and special effects, but the whole concept and story really made my brian whirl. Oh, that and in combination of the excessive heat in the movie theater due to lack of A\C that made me kind of sick.

I had the complete opposite problem in my theatre, it was FREEZING! Best part in the movie had to be the fist scene between Neo and Agent Smith. This movie had some great special effects though and the storyline was perfect. However, it was a bit of a let down.
