It happens to people who are careless. If you don't down a bottle of 80 proof alcohol and drink like a normal person u'll be fine. The better warning is don't be a fool and show off when you're drinking.

venom: one of my best friends died this weekend after having about 5 or 6 drinks. you don't need to down 18 shots in an hour to die of alcohol poisoning

Wow.....thats crazy, when you think alcohol poisoning you don't think of people who seriously can't handle a lotta alcohol.

Yea in some cases you don't even have to drink a whole lot to get alcohol posioning. I'm sorry bout your friend steph

No one ever conciders it though. People take drinking too far into our culture and don't concider it a threat.

I'm really truly sorry about your friend. There's nothing that I can say to make you feel any better after such a loss. It is a shame that people like Venom make assumptions about other people. For all we know, that may have been her first time choosing to drink, but people will just assume she was someone who was bad and was doing something wrong. That's horrible. She did nothing wrong. Alcohol poisoning doesn't need a lot of alcohol to happen. And not only does it kill, it can screw your life up in other ways. My friend Amanda had it in ninth grade (she drank a LOT though from what I heard. I wasn't there) had it and it's getting to be our nineteenth birthday and she still can't get her license. So beware of the consequences of alcohol. Be careful, but seriously... I can't see any of the perks to drinking.

God, i hate to do this but i can't help it. why is everybody jumping on Venom?
he didn't know anybody had died. when he made his comment, he was just trying to make his point, which is that drinking responsibly does not lead to alcohol poisoning.

One of my friends got minor alcohol poisoning. He drank alot, and ended up in a bathroom for three hours. It was horrible.

I'm not trying to seriously argue with me, so don't take this the wrong way......but Venom might have initally thought she produced the thread for a discussion purpose in the first place.
That would've been my assumption until she made her point.
