oh dear kicked by a beggar,
i don't. i figure i don't have money to be throwing around going to who knows what ends to who know what kind of person. that said, i would gladly buy a beggar food they needed it, but that's a bit different than handing out money.

i agree
and if i do give money to them i don't give it to people with signs that say " i need money for alcohol, cigarettes and weed"
although at least they are honest

True.
Man, that guy was weird. We were sitting in line for a concert (Silverchair

)... which was quite unfortunate for ALL of us, cos he came down the line and bugged each and every one of us, refusing to let us ignore him (which was what Melissa was trying to do when he kicked her). He called me Brooke Shields.

And he told everyone to "go back to Canada" cos it wasn't safe in America.
Anyway, to answer the question, I don't give money to beggars, either, cos of the same reason Kimmy gave.

your poll needs a "depends"
lol once i offered a beggar a burger i bought from burger king since i wasnt going to eat it since i was about to goto a bar for a concert or something along those lines and had to get rid of the food.. so i offered it to him and he said no and asked for money. i told him i had no money but had the food and thats all i could do and for him to "take it or leave it" he ended up taking it
and then complained i gave him a burger from BK
i just ignored him after that
and the 5 other times he came up to me that night
i even stopped kruno from giving him money later that night cuz of that incident.
i do sometimes give money tho
very rarely tho
im too poor

i only give to the first guy that asks. that's it, and it's the change in my pocket or maybe a dollar tops. the others.....too late you bastards! i just keep walking and ignore the rest. this one time a guy got right in front of me and my friends claim i bulled over him. all i did was nudge him a little, the guy flew man! but i kept on trucking.

I am all for the squeegee kids. I mean at least they are doing something productive.

I do depending on the beggar .. my friends and I were screamed at and chased by one beggar simply because we walked by him so I'm not about to give him money after that. I tend to give money to the younger ones .. when I was at edgefest a young guy stopped me when I got off the bus saying he was short $5.00 to get home to Kitchener .. he gave me this story about how he had been stuck there overnight with no food and he was weak and tired .. I only had a looney on me though

I don't carry money on me very often but when I do and I see someone like that I will give them money.
I don't feel sorry for the older ones you run into day after day .. like take yourself into a bathroom, clean up and find a damn job already. It's understandable if say you get kicked out and you run out of luck for a few days or a week or something but to do nothing about it week after week kinda irks me.

But if they cleaned themselves up a bit, they could easily get a McJob.

If anything, I'd give beggars food. It's what they need most, and they can't go out and buy booze with ti.

You can say the same thing about beggers then too. at least these people working, even if it isnt a paying job.

I don't see beggars around here either .. it's just not something you see as much in smaller cities .. London and Toronto is where I always encounter them.

One time I was going to.
Then I saw the beggar in question produce the biggest bottle of booze I have ever seen from his coat, so I thought better of it.

There was a family where I went to university who'd sit on the street begging all day and being really rude if you didn't give them money and sending their little kids up to ask for money. And then one day I saw them heading out of town in expensive trainers with shopping bags full of new clothes. And now I can't give money to beggars ever just in case they're like that, even though I know most of them aren't.
