I found this article in a Tribute Movie Email I received. It has Ian McKellan saying gay actors should come out of the closet... Think he's hinting bout elijah?

McKellen wants gay actors out
Ian McKellen wants other gay actors to come out of the closet and criticized them for pretending to be straight off camera as well as on. "It is extremely sad, but no major actors are happy to say they are gay. They are doing it and cannot be happy with themselves. They are sending a dreadful message to their fans," McKellen told the Gay.com UK website. The actor, who plays the wizard Gandalf in the upcoming The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, said that he hoped that his own success as an openly gay actor would prove that audiences are not concerned about an actor's sexual orientation. Ellen DeGeneres, Anne Heche and Rosie O’Donnell, all of whom came out of the closet to have their careers slide quickly downhill afterwards, weren’t available for comments.

Elijah's not a straight hobbit, he just plays one in the movies.

meh even that is debatable, there have always been a view that Frodo and Sam were in fact homosexual. I still loved the book but you can see certain areas, many of those were cvut out of the movie though, except a few crying scenes and the boat one. Much like the movie "Cat on a hot tin roof" was changed, in the book the man was infatuated with his male friend and could not deal with his death, or love his wife for obvious reasons, in the movie he is just torn up over the lose of his friend

There's a lot of... how shall we put this... <i>stroking</i> going on between Frodo and Sam in the book. BUT, on the other hand, no scenes of lovemaking under the Mordor sun, so I guess it's up to interpretation.

As for Mr. McKellan, I doubt he's talking to Elijah Wood - he's talking to the whole fruity mcfruit cast of that movie (with the notable exceptions of Viggo Mortenson, who is ALL MAN, and Gollum, who prefers charming his own snake while fantasizing about 'the Precious').
